8/1/09 by mail, I received notice that it would ship on 10/28/09,
this is less than the described 90-120 day waiting period, "Thank
You" very much. I dealt with Ms. Lynn Williams of your Customer
Service, she got me on the right track after some confusing phone calls and
e-mails, she is a professional ! Since this is Halloween, I'm
writing to say, this rifle was no trick, it's a real treat !
Thanks again, from an Ol' Vet. Steve B. October 29, 2009Hello; I would like to add to the many compliments paid to the CMP's customer service. I ordered an '03 Springfield in July, then got a call that they were sold out. I was able to change my order to a Field Grade M1 and it was shipped 2 days later. That was fast. Unfortunately, the rifle had some functioning problems. Lynne Williams and Phil New were very prompt at replying to e-mails. I was able to return the rifle and then able to order a Service Grade. It will be a few more months, but well worth the wait.. Again, I am very satisfied with the customer service and can't wait for the rifle to arrive. I will definitely order again, once more Correct Grade rifles come available. Todd D. October 28, 2009Last Wednesday, 10-21 I received a call from one of your very helpful employees, his name was Jeremy, I didn't get his last name. Unfortunately he told me there was a problem with my order that I had sent on 5-16-09. When it was processed on 8-26, your employee read it wrong and placed it in a problem folder never to look at it again. I had ordered a Winchester Garand less wood and a Remington 1903A3. Jeremy told me there was nothing wrong with my order but unfortunately the 1903A3 was no longer available even though it was still in stock back in August when my order was processed. He spoke to his boss to try and help me but to no avail. Jeremy told me mistakes like this never happen but obviously they do. I'm writing this to let you know that not all of your customers are not always happy. The first time a ordered a Garand from you it was a beautiful SA service grade, but this time you dropped the ball. Sean H. October 25, 2009Hello, I received my Garand the other day from you folks. The rifle is a beauty, it was everything I was hoping for. I appreciate the relatively quick turnaround and professional customer service. Thanks Again. Jason F. October 20, 2009MY M1 GARAND HRA CORRECT ARRIVED TODAY AND IT IS BEAUTIFUL. YOU FOLKS DO FANTASTIC WORK AT THE CMP AND I PLANT TO PURCHASE MORE OF MR GARAND'S WONDERFUL RIFLES. Ed M. October 17, 2009Hello CMP, This is customer #, John H. first time customer and first time carbine recipient. Got my Underwood service grade carbine, Order # this week. Super condition, looks almost like new metal, matching receiver and barrel, nice bright shiny bore with good sharp rifling. I guess you put the stock through some kind of washing process that raises the wood grain like it was. A little careful work with very fine sandpaper removed the feathers and brought out the grain figuring in a nice piece of walnut - no cartouches or other visible identifying marks, so no worry about removing them. A rub with BLO and it looks terrific. Just 47 days from when I mailed the paperwork to receiving the carbine, that's pretty darn good I'd say. Thanks for all your good work, not just with the rifles but also with Camp Perry and the youth programs. You seem to work like a well maintained Garand, flawlessly !!Thanks again, and keep up the good work. Sincerely. John H. October 17, 2009I Purchased the Grande for my son-in-law that was in Iraq at the time. Well He is home now and got to shoot it for the first time. He loves it. The gun smith I took it to said it was in Great shape. Now I hope I can come up with enough to get me one. Thank you CMP. Steve P.Santa Fe,NM October 13, 2009Dear CMP: I was very pleased with the two M1 Garand rifles I received today; they are both "diamonds in the rough" and will emerge eventually as beautiful examples of Mr Garand's genius after a careful cleaning and reassembly. One has the original barrel and the other (Circa 1942) was re-barreled just after WWII. Both gauge very well despite being Rack Grade rifles. I must admit that my original intent was to use the rifles for parts in my collection - however, they are such nice examples that I have decided to restore them to their original glory - near as i can do that with the parts I have accumulated over the years. Thanks again for your fine service to the M1 Garand shooting and collecting community. We are indeed lucky to have the CMP and all of the very dedicated people who work there. Daniel G. October 13, 2009Mr.
Michaels, I just wanted to let you know of a
group of fine, customer service friendly people you have working for you - Phil
New, Lynne Williams, Cathie Eden and Sharon Wautelet. Their assistance and
"customer comes first" attitude certainly makes the CMP experience
enjoyable. I purchased my first rifle from CMP this year and received it this
past September. A 1943 Winchester M1 Garand. I plan to order a carbine next. As
I research more about the CMP, I realize what an excellent organization it is
and what good comes out of it. As a former
Marine and 20 year + police officer, I deal with all types of people. I can
honestly say that your people are the good ones. Thank you. Patrick O. October 09, 2009
October 08, 2009Yesterday, I had the opportunity to drive
from my home in Michigan, to the CMP store located at Port Clinton. I had
my heart set on purchasing one of the surplus Kimber Model 82’s. I had
seen one at my club while helping Boy Scouts qualify for their rifle merit
badges. I was extremely impressed with the quality, and decided to
purchase one for myself. I had a glitch in my identification (I didn’t have my
DD214, or passport, or birth certificate). The staff there graciously held
my purchase, while I drove back to my home in suburban Detroit, got the
documentation, and faxed it to them. The transaction was completed, and
the Fedex truck arrived at my house this morning with my new Kimber. I
immediately cleaned it, brushed and swabbed the bore, and mounted the sights.
I then took it to my club to try out at the 25- and 50-yard ranges. I’m
completely happy with my purchase. The rifle is extremely accurate, and I
managed to get a .25” group at 25 yards, and a .5” group at 50 yards.
I can’t ask for more from a rifle. My highest praise, however, goes to the
folks at the CMP store. They went above and beyond normal customer
service. Please give them my thanks and appreciation. Best ,
Dennis B. October 08, 2009Hello CMP folks, I am emailing my Thank You! to you kind folks, since I now live in Texas, and can’t get to Anniston to do so. I ordered an HRA M-1 Garand service grade, and an IBM M-1 Carbine service grade a few months ago, figuring if I was lucky I would get one “shooter” to use in my local matches. My order was a late one for the IBM, and in the end I actually received a Winchester, which was better for me anyway, since I already own some original Winchester parts. Imagine my surprise to receive a fabulous-condition HRA with an HRA Bolt and Op-rod, plus an LMR barrel that gauges <1 on Muzzle Erosion, PLUS it has a brand-new CMP stock set, ready for Linseed Oil! WOW, what a deal. The little Winchester carbine looks great and has a good shooter barrel with <1.5 Muzzle Erosion, plus a really nice stock. I should go down and play the LotteryJ This was a very pleasant surprise, since I was hesitant to buy sight-unseen (I am used to dropping in to the North store and picking out what I like). Thanks for making my mail-order experience such a great one. The new stock was really over and above, and will work out nicely for the local Garand matches. Thanks again! Kerry J. October 07, 2009To the good people of the cmp, greetings. I have just received a great rifle from you guys and wanted to say thank you. It is a 1955 h and r with the correct barrel and receiver #5625524. you guys did a really nice job on picking a rifle for me. I plan on teaching my son with this rifle and passing it on to him. Could you please thank the armorer who filled my order for me. The order was shipped on oct 6 2009. I now own four authentic U.S. rifles, 2 garands, 1 austrian carbine and 1 1903a3 and they are all really cool! I teach my kids all about the history of each of them and i would never part with any of the rifles you have sent me. Thanks again, Ken M. October 05, 2009Lets talk about customer service, ya'll could teach alot of companys what customer service is. The CMP customer service was great. My M1 Garand was better than I could have ever hoped for and I appreciate all the help you're staff did for me. I took it to the range and it fired flawless. Next time I wont call so much :) Thanks so much for a great piece of history. David B. October 05, 2009I just wanted to drop a line and say thanks for your incredible customer service. I ordered some 30.06 ammunition several months ago. Unfortunately, just as it was being shipped, my schedule was temporarily changed at work, meaning no one was at home to sign for the delivery. I talked to Fed Ex to no avail, they would only deliver at the scheduled address and a live adult had to be present to sign for delivery. (A good security procedure.) I had missed two delivery attempts and was resigned to Fed Ex returning the package to CMP. This would put me back on the bottom of the list, or so I thought. I was able to leave work early on the last attempt and meet the delivery guy, receiving the package. A few minutes later, my cell phone rang. It was a CMP representative, calling long distance to try to facilitate the delivery. Boy, was I impressed! I recognize just how busy all of the CMP employees are, and for one to take the time to try to fix my problem was really going above and beyond. I only regret that I did not get the man’s name, so I could thank him directly. Thanks, CMP for great customer service! Raymond T. October 02, 2009CMP staff: Over the past year I have purchased Garands, Carbines, a M1903, M1903-A3, M1917, ammo and accessories. I’ve purchased through mail order, auctions and a trip to the North Store. Your efforts are greatly appreciated as each and every transaction has been wonderful. I wanted to take the time to finally say thank you for a job well done. Dennis S. October 02, 2009I just got my M1 Garand yesterday [cmp special] I want to thank all
