I ordered a tin (192 rds) of M2 ball .30/06 on M1 clips. I also ordered a tin (240 rds) of the M2 ball in boxes. For the price, I was expecting 5%-10% of the ammo to be unshootable for various reasons. However, the ammo I received looked like current production ammo, not surplus ammo. I didn't find any unshootable rounds and the ammo tins looked brand new. Thank you CMP. David K.

Wow, what great piece of history. Ordered on 3/04/2009, received my email conformation on 3/10/09, thanks Melissa Smith, and received my service grade rifle on 6/18/2009. I didn't think I would ever get that darned box open, it was so well package. The care and packaging, customer service, are exemplary. Thanks and kudos' to Jean Royster who took the time to email me, on 6/15/09, that I had made a mistake on my order form, indicating service grade after entering the rack grade price. Called her and she squared the order right away. She really made my Birthday! After arrival I took the weapon apart and cleaned the cosmoline off and took the weapon to my gunsmith. He was very impressed with the overall look and quality. Mine is a Harrington & Richardson Arms built in December of 1954. Thanks to all of you, from a very satisfied customer, Graham S. My service grade M1 was delivered today after 4 months of anticipation, and I could not be more pleased! What a tremendous example of craftsmanship and pride. The care with which it was prepared and package for shipment was just a continuation of the professional and excellent customer service that I received from CMP during the course of this entire transaction. I would like to congratulate and thank the entire organization, but particularly Melissa and Jennifer in customer service for a job well done. Hi Melissa, I received my (correct grade) Garand this morning, and I simply could not be happer with the rifle. It appears better than described, and it's well worth the wait. It arrived without as much as a scuff mark on the box. And, I can reuse the egg-crate foam in a hard shell carrying case as well. Please allow me to extend my thanks to you and everyone at the CMP for providing these rifles to those of us interested. I have, and will continue to express my appreciation of the CMP to anyone I know who's potentially interested and eligible (and pretty much anyone else willing to listen). CMP Staff, I just wanted to drop you a line and let you know that my ammunition order arrived on Friday, just in time for Father's Day and a family get together / shoot out. We have a range setup here on the farm and the family greatly enjoys testing their skills. Thanks for all of the help selecting my M1 Garand, getting my estore account set up, order entered, processed and shipped. Bill B.

My son and I came in your north store to get one of the CMP special M1 garand and we was a week to early so I picked up a field grade and a new stock and was informed the your truck should be in next week. I called a few times and started to feel guilty so that Friday I put my son up to calling you. He was informed that the specials had made it in but hadn't hit the shelves yet. SO again we pack-up on a Saturday morning and headed north @4am no less. I'm a bigger kid than him sometimes lol so another sleepless night. We arrived at 8am waiting for the store to open and picked up CMP special 374xxx made in Oct 1941. His birth month is OCT. WOW! Both guns shoot great and I've sent his up to Tim Shuffins to get reparkerized. The barrel on the fg was less than 2 on the muzzel and less than 3 on the breech. The store employees are so freindly and helpful. We will be back in July for more ammo and Thank you! Thank you Jack B J .

June 12, 2009 Today I made the several hour long trip from Indiana to visit the north store. I checked out the web site to see what was in stock. I made my purchase list; service grade Garand, ammo, sling, and a couple books. Once I get there, I only find rack and field grade rifles. The web site shows service grade rifles in stock. The site did not say they were only in stock at the south store. What a terrible experience. I can't beleive I took a day off from work, wasted gas and my time to make the trip for nothing. The longer, I stayed, the more disappointed I became. I left and did not spend a penny. If I hear my friends mention a trip to the CMP, I be sure and mention my experience. I never be back. Cris. S.

I understand the disappointment and apologize for any confusion we may have caused. Service grade rifles are not available at either store, nor are some of the other items for which we accept mail orders. Nowhere on the website do we indicate that the items for which we are accepting mail orders are available at the stores. We also do not list store inventory because an item that may be on the rack early in the morning may be all sold out by the afternoon. We are constantly finding service grade rifles in our inspection operations, but as long as we have more mail orders than service grade rifles, each one we find goes to fill an open order. We have no way to tell how long it will be before mail order demand slows enough so our inventory exceeds demand. Once again, I apologize for any confusion we may have caused and wish you a better shopping experience elsewhere. O.M.

I wanted to let you know that I just received my M1 Special. I am speechless! I was not expecting to receive the rifle for a couple of more months and about had a heart attack when I saw the e-mail saying it was shipped. The photos on the website do not do justice to the craftsmanship and obvious attention to detail that was put into this rifle. I could not be happier and would like to ask that every employee of the CMP that was involved in the process, from customer service with my initial questions to final shipping, receive a commendation for a JOB WELL DONE and a huge thank you! HELLO EVERYONE IN CMP: JUST TOOK DELIVERY ON MY AUCTION, TWO MOSSBERGS, 22'S, MATCHING SER. NUMBERS. I CLEANED THEM, INSPECTED THEM, THEN DIRECTLY TO THE BACK YARD AND SHOOTING A LITTLE FOR BOTH.
