To all you folks at the CMP : I just received my M1 Garand Springfield Special today. When I finally got the box open, the sight of the wonderful work and restoration took my breath. This rifle far exceeds my expectations. The workmanship and finishing is outstanding. The folks at CMP have allot to be proud of, not in their craftsmanship but also the best customer service in these United States. Keep up the fantastic job with the rifles and bringing the world of marksmanship to so many. Thanks again . Phil, USA Retired . PS: I received the rifle several months before expected, thanks again.

I became a member of the CMP several years ago when a great friend and longtime member Rudy told me how great an organization the CMP is. Just wanted to reiterate his praise and mine with a recent transaction. After several attempts at a Rock Ola Carbine, my prayers were answered last week when one finally arrived. As usual, the box barely left the FedEx drivers hands before it was opened like a Christmas present and quickly checked out. What a great piece of history and a coveted Rock Ola at that!   Upon close inspection, there was a problem with the slide handle that looked like something mechanical chewed on it and left sharp edges. A quick call to Customer Service and an explanation to a very helpful Armorer got the ball rolling. Return paperwork was received quickly and part was shipped back for replacement.  Given the fact that you must be inundated with constant orders and requests, Mr. Michaels, I want to thank you and you staff for taking care of my problem as fast as you did. My replacement slide arrived this morning in excellent shape and it made a fine ending to an otherwise lackluster week.  It has been a pleasure to deal with the CMP's courteous and professional staff and I look forward to future transactions. Keep up the great work!   M1 John  P.

Mr Michaels,  I want to thank you and your staff taking care of my problem as fast as you did. Dealing with the CMP over the last few years has been an experience. I have never seen customer service as good as yours. I am letting you know that I received my replacement ammo today and I will be shipping the other ammo back to you on 7/31/09.  I took the ammo from the opened spam can and put it in one of the ammo cans you sent.  The other spam can was unopened so I sent it back.  I greatly appriciate what you have done for me over the years. Eugene T.

Got to the South Store July 29 With my talkative brother-in-law. I've been to the North store several times with great success and enjoyed great service. It's nice to know the South store is every bit as courteous and efficient. Found a rack grade Inland with an ugly stock and good barrel/park, and the stock has since cleaned great, too. We were in and out in not time and back on the road to North Florida. Thanks to all. George

In late March 2009 I became aware of CMP and the opportunities to purchase some of the military weapons I trained with and carried and fired over the course of my military career.  I retired from the US Army in January 1971 and had left the weapons behind as I went on into a second and then a third career in aviation until my health faltered.

On April 9th I ordered two Service Grade M-1 Garands and a day later I ordered two Service Grade M-1 Carbines.  I received the DBU on these orders on May 19 and 20.  I received the IBM carbine on July 27th and the two M-1’s today.  While the wood on the carbine is not great but will clean up both the Garands are in outstanding condition.  They look better than any of those I carried while I was in service.  In fact, the wood on the M-1’s appears to be new or nearly new and the metal components are also well preserved.  The order for an Inland Service Grade Carbine is being processed and I expect it in a short time.

Thanks to the fine people at CMP for the outstanding service they are providing.  While I have not met or talked to any of them on the phone I can readily see their professionalism through the products I have received as well as the many favorable comments I read in the feedback column and on the CMP Forums.  Thanks to the Director and to all employees.  When ‘customer service’ seems to be a thing of the past in many contacts we have on a daily basis it seems to be a very strong point at CMP.  Keep up the GREAT service!

Just received my new'ish M1 and very happy with the look and finish.  The wood is beautiful.  The included manual was not only informative but entertaining.  I actually read it front to back, which is remarkable. Thanks, Seth. H.

July 29, 2009

I just received my new CMP Garand Stock with metal, and it was definitely worth the wait. The stock is obviously new, but it has the contour of the WWII stocks. The CMP cartouche was present, but faint. Nice piece of wood. The metal was also great. The butt plate looks original, and the parkerizing is outstanding. I would highly encourage anyone who wants a reproduction stock to consider purchasing the CMP version.  Ray.

July 29, 2009

There was a mixup on some items that I ordered and when I contacted customer service all was corrected and shipped the next day. It's fantastic to have this much care and concern when I know how swamped they all are. Many thanks. Spiritmaker

July 28, 2009

Lynne and Phil, Thanks for the rapid response to my request for help. Phil, I'll try to get to the range as soon as possible to put this good looking rifle through its paces and see if shooting doesn't assist in smoothing up the action. As I said on the phone, it seems that it is getting better just by working the action by hand a few times. Orest - your staff continues to provide the customer with outstanding service. It is genuinely appreciated.  Regards, Bill S.

July 27, 2009

I learned about the CMP around Christmas of last year. Everything about the organization appeals to me. Been reading and learning from everyone here since. Thought, what a privilege, to be able to own some of the finest US military arms ever made. Really look forward to participating in some of the vintage rifle matches. February, placed my first order for Lake City 30-06.  Notified "sold out" change to HXP? A good lesson into the demand for high quality and very reasonably priced items that the CMP sells. I was reading the forums the end of March when Bam - all service grade carbines went open.  I had thought I was going to order a Garand first, but this golden opportunity presented itself. I overnighted my first rifle order for a service grade Rock-ola. A week later, I sent an order for my first Garand, a SG HRA. It just went open in E-store this week! Of course by now, I've ordered my yearly allotment of HXP, and 1500 rounds of carbine ammo. What good's a rifle without lots of ammo? Back to the Rock-ola. It arrived on 7/16. I had the biggest grin on my face as I slowly opened that magical brown box. I was nervous too, what condition will this 60+ year old rifle be in? When I finally lifted that last piece of foam, I found myself staring at a wonderfully preserved piece of history! It's condition exceeded my expectations. The action cycled as smoothly as the day it was made. It has a Rock-ola barrel dated 2-43, ser.#169xxxx. I believe this is from one of the first batches Rock-ola produced. My gratitude and thanks to the good folks at the CMP! Needless to say, a week after receiving this gem, I fired off another order for a SG Underwood. I look forward to fun and excitement being apart of the CMP. Thanks again! C.

Orest: I want to thank all the folks at CMP for giving me a fun week. It started last Friday with an email advising that my ammo order would arrive this Monday. I tracked it on FedEx and sure enough on Monday the white truck with my ammo rolled up. Once I had a chance to unpack and inspect the munitions (all were in excellent shape), I headed back to my computer only to find another email notifying me that my carbine magazine order had shipped and would arrive on Tuesday. I was extremely pleased with the quality and variety of magazines. They were better than described with some in near mint condition. The topper to the week came on Wednesday when a third Email came to announce the pending arrival of my NPS SG Carbine. The FedEx driver had me sign for the carbine around 9 am this morning. I was more than pleased with the condition of the weapon and particularly pleased with walnut stock which seems to be power washed or steam cleaned. I don't know if your folks clean the stocks but it sure gives me a head start on refinishing. Please thank all your folks for their great, courteous service and also providing me with one heck of a fun week. Now I will be closely checking your site awaiting the release of the Bavarians. CMP,  I know your email stack is very high but I have to thank you for the very nice M1 Carbine I received this morning. It's well worth the money and the wait. I think I may have a son in law ready to order a good looking functioning piece of history. Please keep up the good work!   Rod S .  Palmer, Texas

I have been a member and customer at CMP for some time and stop in when my wife and I travel from Athens, AL to Atlanta, GA to see our grandchildren.  On several occasions I have had the opportunity to talk and ask for assistance from your staff. In every encounter, I have been treated with courtesy and given the information that I requested. Without question, you have a staff to be proud of! One young man that always "stands out" and goes out of his way to provide customer service and information is Mr. Brian Vick. Please pass on my thanks to your staff and Mr. Vick for always taking the time to answer my questions and help out! My very best wishes to you and your organization for providing such outstanding service. Warmest regards, J. Glenn W. Col. (USAF Ret)

Hello, On July 14, 2009 I visited your CMP Camp Perry Store. The drive was over 5 hours from the Rochester, NY area. After walking the showroom and looking at the selection available, I asked one of the CMP Armorers if he would assist me in making a purchase. Bob Bell quickly came to my assistance and explained the differences between the guns available. He was extremely knowledgeable and showed a great deal of pride in his work. I left with some excellent rifles and plans of returning again sometime. The drive was worth it! Even my 13 year old daughter and 16 year old son enjoyed the trip.  Thanks again Bob, and the CMP. Sincerely, Scott O.

Dear Friends,  You are a TOP NOTCH ORGANIZATION !  It is always a pleasure to do business with you. By  the way, THANK YOU for the really nice Carbine.  Tom

July 20, 2009

I want to thank you very much.  After cleaning the weapon I went out and put some bullets downrange.  It was fantastic!  It was accurate and functioned perfectly.  My daughter even fired it, having never fired a rifle before, and was putting bullets into the bull.  How do I go about getting a new operator's manual?  Something got spilled on mine and it is totally unusable.  Again, thank you very much .

I received my M-1 Garand on June 30th. I cannot say enough about the rifle or the service that I received from CMP. Both are fantastic. I also have an order for a spam can or 30-06 rounds and when I saw the condition of my Garand I ordered an M-1 Carbine. Great program and I am very pleased. Thank you. Mark J .

July 17, 2009

Several months ago I ordered a Rock-Ola .30 cal. Carbine. Not long after I ordered the item the web page posted the Sold Out note. I thought I had ordered too late. A few weeks later I received confirmation that the order had been received. A couple of months later I received confirmation of my order and, long story short, today my piece arrived. What a beautiful rifle. I am (as always) totally pleased with my purchase. I can't imagine a nicer representative example of a Rock-Ola Carbine. Thank you. CMS Steven L. P. USAF, (ret)

received my M1 garand rifle sn/5862231a springfield armory model rifle was way beyond my expectatiopns  the stock seemed to be like new or new the barrell was excellent bluing was much better than I expected so the next test is always the best, range time I also purchased a signifacant amount of greek ball ammo which turned out to work FLAWLESLY AND WAS ACCURATE> shooting groups around 3 inches at one hundred yards from bench rest. I then put some handloaded ammo using Imr 4895 in with sierra 150 hpbt  bullet  and groups shrank to 2and a quarter inches also at one hundred yards . again no malfuntions . all this being said I am very pleased . have only one question how tight should gas cylinder be on this rifle.Repectfully Jim !

July 16, 2009

Greetings!  Received my M1 Carbine 104 days after order.  Great service.  Really like the communication and Email.  The metal is beautiful, refinish to be sure, but flat black and 95%.  The stock was solid and servicable, but looked really sad.  Several hours of steam later, everything has come out except two small gouges.  A little Lindspeed and this carbine will be a showpiece.  Thank you all for your great service to American shooters.  My best to all, Joe C, Lawton, OK.

Dear CMP:   If only money weren't finite.  I'd love to have another Special Rifle so that my other son might one day have one, too.  I'm thinking that this first one will pass down the generations in Atlanta.  I get that you refurbish these babies to new specs, but I have to say that even within that high standard, the workmanship on my new rifle is really something to behold.   I suppose only an old soldier (Marine) can fall in love with a rifle.  I never in my dreams hoped to own an M1 of this quality, expecting to have to live with whatever old return piece I could afford.  Thank you for proving me wrong.  And thank you, EK, whoever you are, for picking and packing this gorgeous creature.  I've wanted to open that shipping box for the best part of 50 years now.  You've made the wait completely worth it.   I hope the government never finds out what an outstanding program you have - they'll foul it up.  Please keep up the excellent work.  I know you've made more than this old man very happy.   Sincerely,    Lowell N. S .  Capt. USMC (Ret.)

July 7, 2009

Dear CMP,  Thank you very much for my rifles.  I ordered an M1 Carbine, M1 Garand and 30-40 Krag.  I am very impressed and happy with all the rifles.  It was well worth the wait.  I’m very excited and can’t wait to go target shooting this weekend.  Also, thank you to the great sales folks who picked out the rifles for me.  I just can’t say enough other than Thank you very much!  Sincerely,  Kenton J. Dear CMP ... today was a trip back in time for me!  It was 37 years ago that I first got training on the M1 Garand at USN boot camp in San Diego. I couldn't wait to open the box this morning after the FedEx delivery.  The condition of my rifle and stock are outstanding.  I visually inspected every inch of it and was very pleased.  I even practiced right shoulder arms, port arms, present arms, and yes, inspection arms!  What a privilege and honor it is to be able to own this piece of our US military history.  Thanks to all of the staff at CMP.  Grant B.

July 7, 2009

CMP,  I received my Field Grade M1 Garand approximatley a month ago.  When ordered it was said to take 90 day.  It came in 90 days and one week which was great.  I was going to order a Service grade but after talking to someone there they recommended that unless shooting competitively I get the Field grade.  I am so glad because the rifle is excellent for me and saved $100 bucks.  My sons and I will enjoy it and they will after I am gone.  Can not say enough about CMP.  In fact am so please I am going to order the Rack grade M1 carbine.  Thanks so much,  Sam S.

July 6, 2009

CMP,  I received my Service Grade M1 Garand last week, and was absolutely thrilled with it.  Thank you for expediting my order.  I plan to have a lot of fun with this rifle before I deploy.  Keep up the good work, and thanks for all you do!   Jacob J .

July 5, 2009

The rifles I received this year were superb .  The service and fast thinking when I had a bit of a problem was absolutely outstanding.  Could not have asked for more care and understanding  - not to mention FAST Service.  I would like to thank you again !!  The rifles I had ordered are all on the wall - and just perfect !  I hope you all had a great 4th  - and are all well and safe !!  I will be ordering another rifle or 2 in a short time.  Thank you again for all your support.  Eugene P . SGM US ARMY  Retired

July 3, 2009

I received my rifle yesterday at 10:05. I am very pleased with it and if it ever stops raining here in Maine I'll go shoot it. Thanks for your excellent service. Jim C.

July 3, 2009

I received two boxes of m1 garand 30-06 surplus ammo today. I am beyond thrilled with the condition and the fact that it arrived with all the rounds in clips and ammo bags. Thanks cmp! Alex G.

July 2, 2009

The two Garand M-1 SA SG rifles I received this morning are Outstanding ! ! ! (Retired Military - Outstanding - is the highest rating one could get on an Officer Performance Report) Thank you every one at CMP. They are so beautiful for my purposes, they are Heritage pieces that my Sons and Granddaughters (Violet, Aven and Corbyn C.) will receive when I croak. (1ea 1903/A3, 2ea M-1 Garands and 2ea M-1 Carbines.) Hopefully I can pass a bit of marksmanship and Second Amendment knowledge and responsibilities training on to them before I croak. Since the oldest Granddaughter is only four years old, it will be a little while before we can go to the range with the Carbines and I can work slowly at grooming them to the Garand standard. Anyway, both the Garands are so Super that they appear to be "Specials" - with new wood, and nearly new looking metal on both. If they were women I'd call both of them Drop Dead Gorgeous! Blessings on you and yours. PaBeau

July 2, 2009

I received the last two (2ea SA SG Garands) of a six rifle order I placed in February.  It was a long wait; but absolutely, positively it was worth every minute.  The Garands look like they are "Specials."  You can't know how much it means to me to be able to have these battle weapons safe here in my gun safe; to pass to my children and grandchildren.  Both my Grandfathers carried 1903s in WW One.  My son's Grandfather on their mother's side carried a Garand from Normandy to VE day.  I carried a Garand on many a run at USAFA; and shortly after I graduated  I carried an M-1 Carbine while serving with the 14th SOW in Vietnam.  None of the special connection with our heritage would have been possible without the outstanding support of the Civilian Marksmanship Program and the Personnel who serve there.  Thank you and ....    Blessings on you and yours . PaBeau
