Just a short note to thank the South Store staff for a great visit. It was my first time, and all made it memorable. Leon was especially helpful in his tutorial and suggestions. I left with two HRA SG's that cleaned up beautifully. I'll be back soon. Bennette B.

I love my rifle!!! I had to go to the FedEx terminal yesterday to pick up my rifle and was like Ralphie in a Christmas story getting his secret decoder ring. I opened the box and there was my beautiful M1. Not at all what I thought it was going to be after reading the recent feedback I was prepared to be disappointed. Hope for the best, expect the worst as they say. Well, I found myself whistling the theme to Combat! admiring my rifle and looking forward to the day to take this baby to the range. Even my wife was impressed with the great condition of this piece of history. A big Texas "Thank ya'll" to you at CMP. Scott E. U.S. Army (Ret)

Nice People,  I ordered a M1 Garand HRA  “Special” on October 31st 2008. It was to take 30 to 60 days to get delivery. I just took delivery of the rifle January 20th. After leaving a voicemail, and sending an e-mail, to get a ball park delivery date, I heard nothing. A week later a young lady called and confirmed a few items. She informed me, the rifle would ship out that day. The next day Fed. Exp. delivered it. After a days work, I went to the basement of  my home and gave it a pretty good look’in at. The rifle was in excellent shape. I am surprised an M1 from 1955 was in this good of condition. Every part is HRA as well as a date correct barrel for the receiver (Read Original Barrel). The aftermarket stock was also very nice. Not original but very nice. This rifle is an excellent value. I would have bought another, if I knew it would be this nice. Thank you, Thank you. Thank you for all your hard work, to allow a regular guy to get something like this for a reasonable price. This is a beautiful piece I will cherish. God Loves Guns.   Gary  S.

FYI, not sure what the CMP purchase rules are but they should prevent what I just saw on gunbroker.com. Mr. Shad Hall of Gray, Maine has listed a CMP purchase match grade H&R with CMP paper work and shipping box for $3600.  The serial no appears to be 5488538. He notes that he has "not shot it" and that CMP "doesn't have any more so here's your chance." This is his only listing on GB.com Is it common for CMP to sell garands at a lower than market price in bundles only for the purchasers to jack up the price and resale on gunbroker.com? I consider the CMP garand to be more than a way to make a quick buck. Mike M.

Dear Director,   In the words of the old Hee-Haw TV Show: gloom, despair and agony on me........
On November 10, 2008 while trying to find solace in the disappointing election results, and to honor Veterans Day, I finally got around to ordering two 1917 Enfields to go with the 2 Garands and 2 '03's that I purchased from the CMP and put in my safe. These four rifles get taken out several times a year and go with me and sometimes my Army (1/501st PIR) son to the range to pay homage to the brave souls (my father, brother, uncles, cousins and son) who carried them or others in the defense of this great Nation.  Whenever I am at the range I speak highly of the history of these weapons, offer others the opportunity to share the experience and hype the CMP and NRA at every opportunity.  After shooting, they get reverently cleaned, oiled and put back in the safe as family heirlooms.  I am trying to find the words to express my anger and disappointment today when Felica? called and told me the two 1917 Rifles I ordered back in November were no longer available.   I have been looking up the driveway for two months to see the Fed-Ex guy lugging two brown boxes to me.  His tip money still sits on the bookcase, but will now be spent on a mournful toast at my neighborhood tappy.  You can't imagine how soothing that honey-soft southern drawl can calm the raging beast in all of us who get that phone message "no longer available".   If yours was a private business, I would never do business with you again. I am not one of those that buy the maximum allowed each year of the cheapest grade then "hustle" off to the next gun show to take advantage of some history buff without a bore or muzzle gauge,  for hundreds of dollars more than they paid for them.  I am saddened to see the gun business is becoming like the rest of society that everyone is out to get what they can as fast as they can.  The four rifles I bought previously, I still have and will hand down to my kids or give then to some worthy person who will love them like I do.   I have passed up several decent offerings at the show knowing that "mine" were "on the way".   Their coming out party has been changed to a full blown funeral, complete with beverage and lunchmeat tray.   Please send the box of 30-06 ammo so that we may fire a volley in their memory.   Please refund the balance of my money so I can be one of the stiffs who buys from your other customers.  Permission granted for publication, reprint, or dissemination.  In God We Trust, In the NRA I have faith.  Jeff A .

To whom it may concern, I recently recieved my M1 Garand rifle from you. It is a service grade Springfield Armory. I'm a little dissapointed with it.  I realize that I purchased an "as is" 60 year old military surplus rifle, but after reading many of the reviews and the description, I the rifle I recieved probably meets the rack grade category. The wood stock has many dings in it, including two spots (one on the forward hand grip and one on the butt) where someone scratched their initials into the wood. The forward hand grip has banding marks on it. there are many dings and scrapes on the wood surface. Although there is no major corrosion or pitting on the metalwork, there are many different manufacturers. The bolt is HRA, the trigger group main part is IHC with a HRA safety and HRA hammer. The gas tube is very loose, allowing the front sight to move significantly (which I will assume must affect accuracy and I'm not sure how to fix). I cant wait to go shooting with it, but I just wanted to give you my feedback. Thanks for your time. Jeremy L.

Hi, I received a field grade HRA M1 Garand last Saturday. Even though the wait was long it was well worth it. The rifle is far better then I would even expect of a service grade (almost no dings on the stock and almost new finish). Rifling is sharp and virtually no wear to the muzzle or breech. To my amazement all parts were matching with the exception of the op-rod. If I replace the op-rod then I will have a nice collector grade. Many thanks. I hope the weather clears up so I can see if it shoots as good as it looks. Dennis P. TSGT USAF Ret.

Sir, I received my M1 Garand yesterday in the mail. I was extremely happy with the entire process that led up to receiving this beautiful rifle. The staff I dealt with during the ordering process went out of there way to help me reorder my rifle when the original weapon I ordered was sold out. The staff I spoke to were very professional and patient in answering all of my questions. I only recently began dealing with the CMP, and this is the first rifle I have ordered. With the professionalism of the staff and the quality of the weapon I received I am sure I will be dealing with CMP for a long time to come. Thank You, Steven M. M . SFC, USA Retired

I received my 1903 Low-numbered RIA Tuesday that I originally selected at the South Store last week.  I couldnʼt be more pleased with the service and selection I encountered then, and whenever I deal with the CMP.  Thank you CMP.  R G .

On Tuesday I called the CMP about a problem with a M-1 Garand HRA select grade(new wood and some new metal parts). I explained that the Stock Farrule was defective. When I field stripped the rifle  the stock farrule came off the stock and was stuck on the op rod.I was sent a new one and it came Friday. The Armor I talked to must have put everything down and put me on the top of his list. That is outstanding customer service. I have never found such service anywhere. Thank you!!! John
