Rec'd my M-1 Gerand Special 90 days after placing order. It is a wonderful reminder of the first one issued to me in the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego in 1957, except it wasn't preserved like my MC model. The funny thing is, the number is older then the one I received back then. I've discovered that I'm a lot weaker these days, and I've been trying to get the metal soaked in oil so I can keep it dry, and next I will finish out the stock with boiled linseed oil for the beautiful finish we produced in boot camp. I have 2 sons that have never fired a 30-06, (one did 4 years in a light infantry brigade in Alaska), and I hope to take them to the range Labor day weekend. I  am especially proud of the piece recieved, it is a wonderful example of the skill of your craftsmen...now if I can just make it easier to open the bolt...hehehehe I am wheelchair bound after the loss of my left leg and this item brings back wonderful memories, plus I checked the market for same and the price is right. Thank You for your fine work, Richard A A. Former Grunt and US Army retired SNCO.

The Special grade M1 Garand I just got is like a new rifle. My friends can't believe that this only cost $995.00! It's a beauty and I am also pleased with the Rack Grade Rockola Carbine. Thank you. Mike  L.

August 29, 2009

In March of 09 I ordered my first M1 Garand.  I have dreamed of owning this particular rifle since I was a kid in the early 60’s.  After a 5 ½ month wait I received my M1 CMP Special.  This is a beautiful example of one of the best rifles ever put into the service of protecting our country.  The stock and barrel are new and the metal has been beautifully refinished.  I looked up the serial number and found this rifle was manufactured in August of 1943 and is 66 years old this month.  This will be more than just a shooter to me. When I hold this rifle I envision what it must have seen and perhaps get a sense of the men who used this tool with honor and distinction.  I would highly recommend the CMP Special to anyone wanting a fully restored piece of history.  This was well worth the wait and the price.  Gary S .  NRA Certified Instructor , Range Safety Officer

I recently received a very nice barreled receiver and could not be happier! It was just as I had hoped it would be. Thank you all for your service and wish granting powers. Regards,  Chief

Hi. Just received my M1 Carbine this morning and I am really pleased.  I now own an M1 Grand and the M1 Carbine.  I have enjoyed doing business with you. I am one satisified customer. Vernon Ray C.

A few comments, recieved my M1 Carbine, service grade, and was most impressed by it, metal(reciever, barrel, trigger guard) finish is  excellent. Stock and handguard  are nicely  matching and only a small amount of small dings, scratches are evident on the stock, considering it's age, it's a very nice specimen. Concerning  another area, I recieved a serivce grade M1 rifle a short while back, it had the CMP replacement wood, and metal. Anyone considering changing the wood, or upgrading it's look, and who are not particular as to original stocks with markings would do well to get this replacement set. Fit, finish is excellent, it was a nice surprise on my service grade rifle, looks super. And lastly, I've(like many others)have always found the customer service to be most professional, and attentive to my issues. As I work in visitor services(basically customer service) at a Federal museum, I have a good understanding of what it takes to do a fine job, and the CMP staff certanly excells a vast majority of the time. I would like to thank everyone at CMP, I placed an order for 2 M1 Garands service grade SA, HRA back in May and recieved my first one, SA on 08-21-09.  I sent an email on 08-24-09 regarding the second rifle and got a quick response stating a back orders on the HRA's.  To my surprise I recieved my M1 HRA on 08-27-09.  Both rifles are in good condition.  Thank you again, Wil R. H . NY

August 27, 2009

What a rifle!  The last day of NRA Week, Steve at the North Store helped me pick a Garand and I purchased it.  I barely got the grease out of the barrel and got to the range to find out that this gun  shoots great!    Got it in the 9 ring after 4 shots, and then one  click up and it stays in the 10 and X ring.   I am so pleased. Thanks. Mike G.

August 27, 2009

This is gonna sound like an echo of so many other comments, I just got my HRA Correct Garand and I am very, very pleased. Thanks to all of you for doing what you do so well! You folks must feel like you're paddling upstream with a teaspoon but you're leaving a wake!  Good job and many thanks. Charlie Goddard,  IA

Thank you all who helped me out I have started a new hobby and hope one day I can return the favor by helping out a new shooter. Michael H.

I finally, after more than a dozen orders, had my first problem with an order (wrong size shooting glove sent). I wrote to custserve@odcmp.com, had an answer the next day, indicating correct size glove + return shipping label for wrong glove was being sent. I was not at all surprised by the exceptional customer service, but did want to let you and other posters know of my continuing complete satisfaction with what I consider the finest mail order business in the United States today. My thanks and congratulations to you and all of your staff! Best regards,.  Howard

August 24, 2009

To all of the good people at CMP. I purchased a Model 1903 Remington earlier this year, and forgot to leave feedback. That was my 3rd rifle purchase, of which my Son received one as a gift. I have been greatly pleased with everyone of them. Your grading process makes it easy to decide what to buy, and what your expectations should be when you receive your weapon. Thanks for being there for collectors, and enthusiasts.  Rodney H

Visited the North Store a week ago. Purchased a US44. Could not be happier with the rifle. Persons in the store were extremely helpfull. Good experience, John S.

August 21, 2009

Dear CMP personnel, I am very aware of how busy y'all have been recently. I know y'all have been swamped with orders. So, I was pleasantly surprised to receive my rifle so quickly. I am quite satisfied with the condition of the firearm. My father served in WWII and used a Garand. This rifle gives me a direct connection to his service. It means more than you can know. Thank you all so much for your hard work in filling these orders. Robert C.

August 21, 2009

Dear CMP,  I received my service grade Springfield M-1 today, August 21, 2009, and am pleased with the rifle. This is the fourth rifle that I have purchased from CMP since 1999 and the CMP folks have always been helpful.  Charles S. F . Philadelphia, TN .

August 21, 2009

Mrs. W., I received my Garand yesterday and want to thank you for all the assistance that you provided.  Please let everyone know that I am extremely pleased with the rifle that I received and the wait was well worth it. Again thank you very much and I hope that you have a wonder day. Shoot Straight, Shoot Often, Shoot Safe. Loren D C. Silver City, NM

August 20, 2009

Wanted to say how much I appreciate the service received. My M1 Garand arrived and was in far, far better shape than I expected. I can't say the same for the box, it apparently had a fight with the equipment at FedEx and it lost the fight, but the Garand was packed very well and the Garand came through unscathed. Thanks to everyone at CMP and a special thanks to P.H. William D. C ., MSgt, USAF ret.

August 20, 2009

I just recieved my H & R Service Grade M1 Garand today, WOW!  The rifle has a new CMP stock set with new  hardware, and the rest looks to be in great condition.  When I opened the box I felt like a kid at Christmas.  I can't wait to put some rounds down range.  Thank you for the great job each one of you do.  I hope to make the trip from Western NC to the South Store for my next purchase. Thanks again, Jeff R.

CMP Customer Service, Just wanted to let you know that I had the opportunity to visit the North Store this last Saturday and it was well worth the 450 mile round trip ride.  I found a great example of a Saginaw carbine, which what I was looking for and the staff was very helpful, as usual.  All the customers I saw realize how hard the staff is working and I didn't see anyone leave the building without a smile.  Thank you for your assistance. I have to complement the entire staff as true professionals. Sincerely, Bruce L.

August 19, 2009

Dear CMP. At first I got my heart broke because I was told that my order for the 1903 Mark 1 was sold out. But I was given the opportunity to order another rifle. So I chose the Springfield M-1 Standard Grade. Well I got It to day. Its a 1943 Springfield service grade with a new CMP stock set. Thank you all of you folks at the CMP and D.M. for the pick. I'm very happy. Respectfully, Frank L. U.S. Army (Retired).

August 18, 2009

You can add me to the list of people that appereciate what CMP does.  I am also very pleased with the M1 I recieved today.  Pat S .  Highland MI

August 14, 2009

Mr. Michaels, I want to thank the armourer and staff that sent me the Remington 1903A3 recently.  I have received many nice rifles from CMP but this rifle is a gem. Thanks, Mark C. V. MD

August 13, 2009

Orest, The people you have working for you are of the highest caliber employees anyone could have. I recently was having problems with my Win M1, kicking out the clip after 2-4 shots. After replacing everything I could think of I finally called your armorer Phil. Well, he told me to send it back, which I did (thanks for the UPS label!), he fixed it. Turns out it was a timing issue. Thanks to Phil's knowledge and efforts, it was fixed. He stayed in touch with during the process. He really went the extra mile. He deserves a great big "Atta Boy"!!  But in all fairness, all of your staff goes beyond their jobs. Always helpful and pleasant. Thanks to all CMP.  Ron.

August 12, 2009

I want to thank all of you for all the matches you run at Camp Perry. They are run very well.  I shoot the rimfire sporter, carbine, springfield, and garand.  The ammo you got from Hornady was GREAT. Last year I lost points due to fired cases sticking in the chamber of my 1903 Springfield and 1917 Enfield. This year no problems.  Thanks .  Scott  S.

August 12, 2009

Dear CMP:  The M-1 Garand that I ordered by mail on April 28, arrived yesterday by Fed Ex. My M-1 is a SA service grade. What a rifle you picked out for me! It’s absolutely beautiful. The first time I handled an M-1,  was in 1966 while attending Small Arms Repair School for the US Army at Aberdeen Proving Ground. I also had the opportunity to do service work on then while stationed in Thailand . Our mission was to service all the M-1 Garands and carbines on loan to the Thailand Army. Please extend my thanks to everyone at CMP for a job well done. Keep up the good work.  Richard M . Hagerstown , MD

August 11, 2009

Back in May, I asked about the cause of the casings ejecting from my M1 Carbine and hitting me on the forehead, you suggested the ejector etc.  I went to CMP north last Saturday, 8-8-09 during the National Matches. With Bob's assistance at the desk in the sales office, I located the 6 o'clock slide that he recommended and installed it the next day and the sore head problem is no more. Thanks to Bob and all of you at the CMP for your service. Robert (Bob) L. Delphos, Oh

August 10, 2009

Folks-  I received my "Service Grade" M1 Garand today, it was except for some nicks on the stock "Brand New".  I also received a National Postage Meter M1 carbine, the carbine in all honesty has been "rode hard and put away wet"  It is a solid gun though and some good "linseed oil" will bring the stock back into shape. I was lucky as all the original cartouches were intact on both.  I was very pleased with both, it was worth the wait.

I wish CMP would offer a stock for the M1 carbine. I also wish CMP would offer stocks for the Krag, both carbine and rifle.  I cant say enough good things about the Civilian Markmanship Program.  You get to save pieces of history, everyday. That has to be a really good job.  This Iraq Vet thanks you. Your work means more to us Vets and historians than you will ever imagine.  Thanks Again,  Mike B .

OREST, I want to thank you and all the folks at CMP for making my kids first time to Camp Perry and SAFS so very enjoyable. Since 1999 I've been coming to the Matches with cousins and friends. This year I brought 3 of my 5 kids the other two are too young). My daughter is13(14 next month) 12y/o son andFreddy(11 years old). We just so happened to stay at the hotel where a large number of the Army Instructors were staying. Seems they were impressed with his determination to stay in the match without any assistance using the "block" and performed both rapid fires and completed them!!!!! My Daughter got a few 10's and so did Freddy!!!and Patrick got 2 X's!!! He was so excited you would think he won the match!!!!!

Everyone and I mean everyone was really helpful and encouraging. Folks on the firing line knew we wanted to be squaded together and were very accommodating. My 2 boys ended up in the pits together. They were a little slow at first but shooters next to them helped them get it together and they did fine. They said they had fun and wanted to go back the next day to pull targets for the instructors!!!!! Everyone wanted to stay longer and we will next year they all want to shoot the M1 Carbine Match. I was really proud of them especially on day one of the SAFS. We were there at 0645 and didn't get out of the pits until after 1900hrs!!!!! We had a quick dinner they passed out and we were back on the firing line next morning at 0645. It was a great weekend!!!!! That is truly Quality Family Time!!!!!!!!!!! I can't thank EVERYONE enough. The classroom was done really well my kids understood what they were supposed to do and all of them love that "Black Rifle"! As one of the Instructors said, You had a great vacation!!!! It sure was.  Fred

To all at the CMP Anniston,   I received my service grade SA M1 Garand today. It redefines the term "worth the wait" I ordered this one by mail order in April and knew it would take a while. I also took a chance and ask for certain criteria in case there were choices available. It all was a total leap of faith. "JC" set the rifle up and "SH" packed it and all arrived in great shape. From the condition of the barrel to the finish of the wood, I was stunned by the condition of it. It was set up like I was hoping for. I'm looking forward to taking it to the range and get it zero'd. I am a happy customer and have had many good visits to CMP South. You all do a great job for your country.  Best regards,  W. F .

August 7, 2009

I recently received the two Rockola service grade carbines that I ordered back in March and was extremely pleased with them. As usual the condition was much better than expected and I don't believe I could have done a better job picking them myself. I look forward to the date when Bavarian marked carbines become available. Keep up the great work and don't be discouraged by the few complaints. Joel H . Shelton CT

Gentlemen,  I would like to offer a quick and hearty "Thank you" for everyone who helped to create and support this year's inaugural Advanced Pistol Small Arms Firing School. All of the presenters did a superb job. Kudos to Adam, Jim, and Scott. Hats off to your Armorer and his delightful pistol display with hands-on trigger testing. That was very insightful. Of course, the Q&A period was superb -- and generally better focused with the questions offered by this group of attendees.

I've been to two previous SAFS, and this one was by far the best yet. Even this year's Beginner SAFS classroom portion (which I also attended) was noticeably improved, particularly in the area of multimedia support to the presentations.
So, in short, "thanks" to all. Please continue with two classes, and wow the students again next year. I know that I'm looking forward to it.  Thank you,
Kirk A
 .

p.s -- above all of the valuable presentations and individual discussions, the most valuable part of that experience for me was feeling the various trigger setups, and discussing those with the Armorer (whose name, I apologize, has escaped me). I'm still experimenting with the length of the roll, but with his comments, and some good parts like George Smith's (EGW) hard 1911 sears and a good Powers sear jig, I have been making progress in personally creating a trigger setup that works for me.

August 6, 2009

The Garand I ordered on March 16 arrived via FedEx last night.  It is a SA service grade.  I am very pleased with the condition of this piece of history.  I am currently in the service, and my father had an M1 back when he was in.  It was great to talk with him about this rifle and his time in the service as we sat around last night.  All the staff at CMP I’ve dealt with have been extremely helpful and the web site is a great way to keep track of the orders.  Thanks CMP!  Jon W. - Minnesota

August 6, 2009

I just received my Service Grade Underwood M1 carbine. To say I am pleased is an understatement.  When I opened the box it was like staring history in the face. Certainly, the wood has some dings, dents and scratches and the metal finish shows some wear. It could be said they are the marks of a proud warrior.  I will enjoy refurbishing/restoring the wood to spiff up the old warrior (in keeping with its age and history, of course).  CMP, you do a great job. Thanks a lot. The three month wait was more than worth it.  Dave P.  New Hampshire

August 6, 2009

Thank you for the Service Grade Special. You continue to hit the X ring.  What a beautiful rifle. Ordered second one today. I do not resell and hope my kids inherit all. Perseving for them a heratige. Of course they will have to have ammo that may not be available to them in future.I put most of my HXP (great ammo better than LC  IMHO)  through Fulton Tanker w/ Smith Break. The rest are in safe with tags on muzzle. You are doing a great job. Thanks Dan

August 5, 2009

WOW! I just received the M1 and I am VERY happy with what I have in my hands. I ordered the service grade model and it is much better than I thought it would be. It is Christmas in Aug, this year!  Cant wait to get it to the range. I worked with a couple of different people thru e-mail and phone and was always pleased with the communication and updates i received. God Bless CMP!  P.A. R . Krum , Tx

August 4, 2009

My M1 Garand arrived yesterday.  It was ordered in March, but was well worth the wait. Pass along my thanks to everyone at CMP for picking a beautiful Garand for me. Cheers, Jean A.

August 4, 2009

Today I received the new 1903A3 Criterion rifle barrel that I had ordered from the CMP on 4/24/09. It is truly spectacular. I installed the front sight base and key and they fit like a glove. Now it's off to the gunsmith for fitting onto the 1903A3 receiver that I bought from the CMP last year. Hope it shoots as good as it looks. C.S

August 3, 2009

Please pass along a THANK YOU to everyone at CMP's customer service.  As I have said in the past, you all define the words CUSTOMER SERVICE. Tom K

August 3, 2009

CMP Staff etc.,  I am relatively new to CMP and just read the latest update e-mail. I for one have had nothing but great service from CMP, from setting up as a customer, to receiving my orders exactly as I placed them. The service and the product are well worth the wait.  You are definitely appreciated and hope to be picking up an M1 Carbine when the Bavarians become available. If that takes 6 months, it takes 6 months. Try not to stress, and realize that anyone with a head on their shoulders should understand that in these tough times considerably more patience is required. I'm sure you are doing your absolute best. Thanks for all you do at CMP!!! Jim M.

August 3, 2009

I just received my order and I would like to thank all of you for your excellent service!  Everyone I dealt with at CMP was pleasant and helpful. It is remarkable these days to have such a positive experience. I wish you all the best! Sincerely, Don M. Elko, NV

August 3, 2009

Last Wednesday, July 28th, my brother in-law and myself drove up to Anniston from Wellborn, Florida, the reason for the trip was two fold, one had my brother in-law purchasing a M-1 Carbine and for me to finally take delivery of a M-1 Special that I had originally ordered way back in march, by the way, this was also I had just flown from Pittsburgh, experienced a one hour delay in Charlotte, north Carolina and landed in Jacksonville at 1:30 AM, we got to Wellborn at 2:30 Am and left for Anniston by 3:00 Am without any sleep and both of us were wondering if this was truly worth it, well it sure was!!!

The Special M-1 is truly a Special Rifle, when you first look and approach it, has you coming away with a feeling of just having met royalty, I have read the hype and seen other rifles of similar reputation but they pale in comparison. I would also like to take this moment to thank Leon for his advice on that could be used for the finishing the wood by applying Tung Oil and at this time my brother-law and I also like to extend our thanks to Melody Davis and Nina Michaels for their assistance in showing patience by answering all of our questions (the dumb ones were by me I might add)

This is my first experience in purchasing items from the CMP but "THIS WILL NOT BE THE LAST", I hope to be back in the coming Fall and next year, hope that sales for the CMP continue to grow and more people have the opportunity to deal with the professional staff that is employed here.   Al B.

August 3, 2009

We received our Kimber 82 Government rifle about 2 years ago.  The CMP staff have been very helpful with ordering and support both then and now.  We are very impressed.  I even offered to send in a comment and was told it was enough that we were happy.  This is a class A organization.  We plan tovisit the store on our next trip south.   W.G.

August 3, 2009

Hi Melissa, I am a new member to the CMP family #199990.  I have been impressed with the professionalism exhibited by yourself and all those I have been in contact with at CMP. I find This update email is a very good process for keeping me as a customer up to date and helping me to temper my expectations.I especially appreciate the notification of the Bavarian carbines and find it would be great, if you don't already, to receive an email when new firearms, ammunition and product offerings are anticipated. CMP team -- Keep up the good work!! Thanks Again, Don.

August 2, 2009

I'm 53 years old, and haven't fired more than a few shots from a bench since Basic Military Training  in 1973.  When I signed up for the SAFS Rifle School this year it was to learn the proper technicque for rifle shooting. Little did I know how much fun I would have!  I've been shooting Action Pistol Events  for quite some time, but the comradarie and instruction at the National Matches was the most fun I have had, in the shooting sports, in my lifetime!  Thanks, and see you again next year!  Edward A. M . Grafton, Ohio

August 1, 2009

I would like to thank Judy Wade for her assistance and quick response in a CC matter she handled and took care of. I am sure your staff does not come running to you for a "pat on the back" every time they solve a problem. I am therefore doing it for her. It is a credit to you and your ability to hire people that do such a fantastic job under the current conditions. Thanks again.
