My Father was a Navy Corpsman assigned to the Third Marines during WW2. Dad was at the invasions of: Saipan, Iwo Jima, Tinian Islands, Guam, and Okinawa. He rarely, if ever, spoke of his experiences and after doing much research on the battles in the Pacific I understand why. On one rare occassion Dad told me about his experience handling and firing a M1 Garand. He said that he felt that it was THE finest rifle he had ever had the opportunity to operate. Dad passed in 2002. Since his passing I have been considering purchasing a M1 Garand in Dad's memory. CMP has made this dream a reality. Not quite a month after ordering my Garand arrived today. It is a beauty. New stock. Smooth operation. And so much history. Although my model was manufactured in the 1950's I can imagine how proud Dad would be if he could be here today to experience handling a M1 Garand again. A sincere Thank You to the staff of the CMP for making a dream come true for me. My Garand will be kept as a tribute to the brave men and women who sacrificed so much during WW2 as my Dad did. I am honored to own a piece of living history of our great Nation. John E.F. June 25, 2008

was as he said able to shoot a piece of history before being sent to Iraq. The
H&R manufactured rifle performed flawlessly as did the HXP ammo that he
purchased with the weapon. Thanks again and I apologize for not taking this
action sooner.-Frank P .

To Whom it may concern, I
don’t know who to thank for the very nice M1 Garand that was delivered to my
house…BUT I sure would like to say thank you to all concerned and involved. Words
cannot adequately convey my sense of joy and happiness with the condition of
this rifle. I cleaned the rifle and test fired it on the range…not only did
it perform well, but at a hundred yards I shot an 80/80 with the iron sights
using LC ball ammo!! I am amazed….Please let everyone involved in my process
know that I really appreciate what they did for me. Ben R .LTC,

June 22, 2008I want to thank everyone at CMP for the work they put into this program.
Around the first week of May I sent in for my first Garand. Two weeks later I
called just to see if they received all my necessary paper work. The Lady said
they had received over 8 bags of forms of orders for the M1 Carbine but as soon
as they put my paper work in I would be notified by email. I then saw a friends
M1 and decided to order another one. So I sent in another order in the middle of
May for another M1 Garand. On June 17th I received my June 18, 2008To The CMP: The Saginaw S.G. I received a short time ago turned out to look real nice after I cleaned it up. I soaked the metal in thinner for a couple of days to help remove the grease and lo-and-behold it took off the black Italian finish revealing the original metal finish. The walnut stock was soaked in boiling water and Oxi Clean which removed the soaked in grease and oil and when dried it looked nice and clean. A light rub with very fine sandpaper, military stain, and linseed oil took care of the finish which turned out like the metal, looking great! I put on the couple of SG parts I had on hand and should I put on the original marked flip sight it would look almost like it did when it left the factory many years ago. I shudder when I think I almost never got it due to the Fed Ex driver delivering it to an area Hospital. Due to the people involved telling opposite stories I still think they were working a scam and it would have turned up missing but my quick action in running it down stopped them in their tracks. Many thanks CMP for sending me a very nice Carbine that I will always enjoy! Robert W. C . June 11, 2008Just wanted to say thank you for my grandson, he ordered a rack grade Winchester after the 28th thinking the other make sg would be gone. Later he saw they were still listed for sale and e/m and asked his order to be changed to a sg. It arrived this a/m and is in wonderful condition. It was shipped to me as i am home all the time and is way better than the description. This makes the 3rd firearm he has purchased through the CMP, 2- Garands and the Carbine and he has never been dissapointed with either the firearms or the service. Since he is not here now i wanted to say thanks for him. My grandaughter who just reported to her new base in N.C. is trying her best to get a little money ahead so she can start purchasing, she made expert with everything they put in her hands, even the SAW.Jerry June 5, 2008Wow, I am in love all over again, with my M1 Carbine. My kids and I can't wait to shoot it. Thanks CMP! Robert I. AZ. June 4, 2008
I just recently purchased a Garand from the South store, and everyone I met
lived up to your fine customer service reputation! I am very proud to own this
fine piece of American history, and only wish that "American made"
was still of the same quality!
I would like to specifically comment on the little manual that
came with the rifle - I really hadn't expected to receive anything but a
one-pager of the typical safety stuff. I can honestly say that this manual is
the best, by far, that I have ever received with a firearm! The photos are
clear and instructive, and the text was obviously written by real people, with
extensive knowledge of their subject - not by "technical writers"
and lawyers. Though it is small, I consider it an invaluable addition to my
firearm library. Thanks again - hope to see you soon!
