January 25, 2008I AM THE PROUD RECEIVER OF A M1 GARAND RIFLE. I HAVE ANOTHER M1 ON ORDER. I ALSO HAVE ON ORDER A M1 CARBINE WHICH I INTEND TO SHOOT MY SELF IN THE FOOT WITH ONE OR MORE OF MY PURCHASED RIFLES. I BELIEVE THAT THE PURCHASES OF THESE RIFLE SHOULD BE LIMITED TO NO MORE THAN TWO A YEAR. TWO CARBINES, TWO GARANDS OR ONE OF EACH. THIS WILL GIVE OTHERS A CHANCE TO OWN A PIECE OF HISTORY. OUR WW2 AND KOREA WAR VETS. ARE LEAVING US NOW, GIVE THEM A CHANCE TO RELIVE THEIR MOMENTS OF GLORY. PS. IF YOU DECIDE TO DO THIS CAN YOU WAIT TILL AFTER APRIL. I SHOULD HAVE MY TWO BY THEN . WILL SHOOTLOW . (NOT MY REAL NAME) January 24, 2008

Several weeks ago I received my service grade Springfield M-1 Garand, only 44
days after I ordered it. when I opened the box I was surprised at
the condition, new wood, mostly all the original finish remaining, and most of
all a serial number in the 5 million 800,000 plus range indicating it was one
of the last made around 1957. Over the years I have ordered many parts, but
this was my first rifle. If I can figure out how to stretch my military
disability retirement check a little more, it will not be my last. Thank you
for saving these fine rifles with so many memories of battles past that made
this country what it is, and for making them available to the average
American, both civilian and former military. Dave D .

January 20, 2008Hi just want to say thanks for my first M1 Garand it looks great. Anthony H. January 18, 2008I just wanted to quickly write and say thank you very much for the M1 Garand
I received. I requested a SA but changed my mind to an HRA and received
one that looks almost brand new!! Ironically it came the day before
Christmas so it was a very nice present. I had the opportunity to E-mail
Jennifer on a few occasions and she was very helpful and a joy to work with. Keep
up the great work – you will probably have another order from me very soon! Mike

I would like to send a special thanks to C.M.P. Armorer Tommy P .
He went above and beyond on helping with my last order. I received the
rifle today and didn't open the package as I normally would. I'm loosing
my second pet of 14 years since my discharge from the Augusta Spinal Cord
Unit. I was paralyzed two inches above the umbilicus 07FEB07. Our
14 year old dog had a stroke the day I came home 05APR07. I'm in the
Warrior Transition Unit now watching my hopes and dreams disappear. The
reason I didn't open the package like I normally would is that I'm loosing my
second pet of 14 years. My wife finally made me open the package and I
read the note from the armorer Tommy P .
that said, "THXs FOR YOUR SERVICE TO OUR COUNTY."
Those words help melt through all of my hate and I finally lost it. I
owe this man a great deal of thanks.
Sincerely,
CPT S .
January 12, 2008I am a new subscriber and it seems I've been invited to "Share" my experience. From the get go, its been a hoot. First I signed on for the newsletter, and months later I was surprised, no, stunned, to learn that Carbines would be available for sale. So the long long wait began for the target dates. I was getting anxious, so seeking that human factor of reassurance, I called the helpdesk to ensure I did everything perfectly correct and met the timelines, not too early, not too late. I spoke with "Sherry" on two occasions. (she was perfect, she knew the ropes, provided good guidance, made no promises but offered hope. And she had a sense of humor too, I laughed when she told me a good notary could always be found at the local funeral parlor). The best thing she did was to tell me to submit my paper, and then join the forum. She said it would be worthwhile entertainment and would help pass the time. She was right on, the members are great, the CMP folks are super, and Orest is unbelievably on top of the game. I am enjoying this, and I'm learning alot too. Come on email! Come on Winchester! USACE242 January 11, 2008Thank you so much for the service on my second M1 Garand purchase. I had recently confirmed, by phone, my back order on a service grade rifle. Today my rifle arrived unexpectedly. Your e-mail shipping notice was marked 1809 hrs, Jan 10th. I had not even had a chance to check my e-mail message box yet. The FedEx tracking page shows it left Alabama at 1930 hrs Jan 10th, arrived in San Antonio at 0521 hrs Jan 11th, and was delivered to me at 0824 hrs. Its a beautiful August 42 action with a 1952 barrel and CMP stock. If it shoots half as good as it looks it will be great. As I said last time, this rifle really makes me appreciate any GI or Marine who carried it through a jungle. I am a 30 year Air Force retiree and this rifle, like the Garand and Carbine I previously purchased, helps connect me to those Veterans who have gone before me. Tom P . Texas January 9, 2008
Lynne and the rest of the people at CMP are nothing short of FANTASTIC!! Lynne
was very helpful with every step of the way, and I wish I could thank all that
delivered my SA Service Grade beauty!! It not only looks great, but shoots as
good as it looks!! In fact, it was so nice that I turned right around and
ordered a H & R in Service Grade to keep it company!! Then, after some
other words of encouragement from others I've just placed an order for an
Inland Rack Grade Carbine.. The race is now on to see if the Carbine or Garand
arrives first, but the one thing I'm sure of is a wonderful piece of history
and great customer service!!
Thank you again,
Dan P. Rockton, IL
January 9, 2008I want to thank all of you at CMP for the fine M1 Garand I recieved
yesterday! I could not believe what I saw when I opened the box, I saw a M1
Garand that looked brand new! Great metal, and a new wood, I could not be more
pleased. I also want to say you did a great job on the M1 carbine I
recieved last year. I have already fired over 100 rounds without any problem
with the Garand. Keep up the fine work. Ron C. Missouri January 9, 2008Hello CMP, I would like to thank you for the rifle that I received. Ordered 10-26-07, received 1-03-07. I am a retired Policeman 35 years. I have been involved with firearms for over 50 years. This is the first CMP rifle I have purchased. I am currently employed in a full service gun shop. I run the repair shop. I ordered a Springfield Service Grade, and received an excellent rifle. I wanted a shooter, and I received it. Tight muzzle, good throat. Stock is a bit ruff (dings) but it locks up pretty well. I have no complaints. I want to thank you for this excellent M1 . It is beyond my expectations. Terrific service . Please pass to your staff my compliments. Thank you . Doug C . January 8, 2008Thank you so much!! I received my first Garand today and it is far better than advertised!! I could not be more happy with it. I am looking forward to putting some rounds down range very soon. Thank you all so much, Richard H. January 6, 2008I received my second M1 Garand Friday the 4th and I am very pleased with the nice H&R that you all shipped me, previously I have received a Springfield M1 Garand and an Inland carbine. All of the rifles exceeded my expectations, and the CMP staff really goes the extra mile to keep their customers happy. Thank you very much! Charlie A. , Gilbert AZ. January 5, 2008Dear Sir: This
note of thanks is overdue but I received my Garand the other day. It is
obviously used and in great shape. It looks just as I had hoped it would
look, an antique, well used and in excellent, serviceable condition. It
shoots great. To me it represents a valued piece of American history.
More personally, my Dad carried a Garand in the Pacific.
Thank you. Reed
– January 4, 2008THURSDAY JAN 3 2008. MY FIRST VISIT TO THE CMP STORE, WOW! ALL I CAN SAY IS THE EXPERIENCE WAS GREAT. NICE PEOPLE, NICE STORE. I LOVE THE PLACE! HAD I KNOWN, A SIX HOUR ROUND TRIP FROM TN. I WOULD HAVE BEEN THERE A LONG TIME AGO. "I-LL BE BACK" R.L . RICEVILLE, TN January 3, 2008Dear CMP, I received my field grade M1 Garand the other day and I just wanted to express my gratitude. I was surprised by the rush of emotion that came over me as I pulled the weapon from its box and held it in my hand. The stock had several nicks and dents. I immediately started to wonder which ones may have occurred due to a soldier or Marine hitting a beach, or taking cover behind a stone wall or jumping into a foxhole. I dreamily wished this rifle could talk to me. Where had it been? WWII, Korea? Who might have held it? Did it save the life of its owner by taking the life of an enemy? I cycled the action and its crisp, clean ‘snap’ jolted me out of my daydream. I immediately notice my wife standing next to me with a look on her face somewhere between amusement and concern. However, after I explained the significance of this rifle, where it came from, where it might have been and why it was special that we had an opportunity to own this piece of history, her mood changed. ‘Maybe you should display it on the wall’ was her comment. I knew she understood. It would be a tragedy to destroy these weapons. They are truly relics of American history. I want to thank the people of the CMP for their efforts to save these and make them available to Americans. I can’t wait to get a M1 carbine! Sincerely, Bob C . January 2, 2008
