CMP Home Page '04 Feedback '05 Feedback '06 Feedback '07 Feedback '08 FeedbackJAN FEB MAR APR MAY JUN JUL AUG SEPT OCT NOV DEC April 27, 2008Lynne Williams; I would appreciate you sending this message to whomever should get it, I received the Correct Grade Springfield Armory M1 Garand I ordered for my Dad and gave it to him on the 20th of April. It was in fantastic condition, a minimal amount of clean up and the Parkerizing is beautiful along with the furniture. It almost made an old Marine tear up he was like a kid at Christmas, then he told me I was crazy for spending that kind of money, some things never change but it was worth every cent. I made a Shooters rest to help with the recoil and he and I along with a few others are going to the range this weekend coming. Since that day I do not think any had past that he hasn't picked it up, he also showed me how not to get " M1 Thumb ". Another job well done and May God Bless all of you it has been special. Sincerely . Bill S . . p.s. He got out of the Marines in 1954. April 27, 2008Received my M1 a few weeks ago. In an e-mail to customer service to check on delivery I mentioned that the rifle would be used in Garand Match competitions. My note found its way to the right person, I gat a very nice, very late production rifle with a like new barrel. It shoots like a dream right out of the box. Thanks CMP, I'll be back for another this year. Bob R. ...Indiana April 27, 2008Dear CMP, I
feel honored to qualify for a CMP rifle purchase. I sent in my paperwork
with an order for a service grade M1 made by Springfield Armory. The rifle
I received is not what I expected. The rifle I received is far and above
what I thought I would get. The metal is extraordinary and the stock is
like new. I couldn’t have picked a better rifle if I went through case after
case of M1s. Thank you CMP for all your work in this worthy program. Regards, John
E . First
time M1 Garand Owner! April 25, 2008Received my RG Winchester M1 Carbine this week and I couldn't be happier. Everything about the mail order sale went perfectly. I have proudly displayed the Carbine to my friends and received nothing but good comments. I even showed it to some folks at a local military surplus store. Only complaint I have is that everyone that I show it to wants to buy it from me. Several people have asked about the CMP program and I think you might receive orders from a couple of them. Thanks for a wonderful experience and for your help in protecting these great reminders of those who fought for us. Buck S. April 25, 2008Hello to the employees of the CMP!!! I placed an order for a case of ammunition and a service grade H & R M1 Garand. They arrived today. All I can say is WOW and maybe WOW again. The rifle is absolutely beautiful and does it ever shoot! It is a great pleasure in this day and age to deal with the CMP, the employees are the finest and the service is outstanding! I personally dealt with Melody Davis and she could not have been more helpful or nicer!! You people at the CMP deserve a pat on the back and you also have my utmost respect and appreciation. Thank you. James R. April 24, 2008
Well, this was my first rifle order from CMP. I own an M1 Garand with
the Danish barrel that you folks sold awhile ago, but it was bought from a
private collection. I asked for
a Rack Grade Inland M1 Carbine... I got something much better! The
stock looks great as does the metal, it just needs a little cleaning.
And the muzzle wear isn't bad at all. I'm just so impressed with the
service I just had to let you folks know. It's neat that it's within the
first 42,000 built also. I would not hesitate to order more from you
folks. I'm all about preserving history, and you are allowing me to do
so by these rifle sales. Thank you so much! Now, where's my ammo?!

April 23, 2008I received the Kimber 82 G rifle I ordered today, invoice #237554. It arrived in excellent shape and sooner than anticipated. I was kinda concerned about your warning about knife cuts ect. I lucked out, the only thing with knife cuts, was the two factory check off cards that were in the plastic wrap, both of them had cuts, but they protected the rifle. Had a little very lite rust on some of the things packed in bags, as did the bolt, but it all cleaned up with a little oil. Thanks Bruce J. Neenah Wi April 23, 2008Mrs. Williams, My M1 arrived yesterday and I wanted to say thanks to all of you there! When I opened the box I was in awe at the beauty of the rifle. The stock is a wonderful dark grain and the receiver is in new condition! The overall condition of the weapon far exceeds the "Field Grade" description. I couldn't stop saying (out loud) how excited and surprised I was. When I read the description I was fully expecting to spend the next few days going through a process of wiping cosmolene, busting rust and thoroughly cleaning the weapon. Instead, all that is needed is a good old Marine clean! I've helped friends clean rifles and pistols that are only a few years old that were much more dirty than this "surplus" rifle. The wood is in great condition, the bore is flawless, the metal is gorgeous green and the fit is tight! It may sound absurd that a man would get a lump in his throat over an inanimate object but that is what happened. I'm so grateful for the time you all spent in choosing this rifle for me. You have completed a dream I've had to own a dark, history laden Garand like this since I fired one when I was a young boy. The only thing I can say is Thank You and allow you to continue with your work. Thanks again!!!! James J. A Sgt. USMC April 18, 2008
I recieved the M1 garand I ordered on 4-16-08 it came in very good shape . you
do a excellent job in packing these. I haven't had time to clean it yet
because I had to leave on business, but what I could see the rifle came
through with no broken anything. The process was very smooth and quite fast, it
came before I really expected . Thank
you for a great service.
Sincerely .

April 18, 2008In a strange way I am glad it takes some time for an
order to arrive. This was my first order from CMP and today my Garand came after
much anticipation. Let me first say that the packing job was first rate. When I
opened the package I was nothing but smiles. The rifle looked great and the
receiver was clean and free from any nicks. Having waited for the rifle I was
not gonna wait to shoot it. I finished the yard work and reviewed the Garand
manual. I took some Greek 1978 ammo and hit the range. First 8 shots at 25 yards
were covered by a quarter. I was happy, but it was 25 yards. I next moved to 50
yards and all 8 shots were covered by a fifty cent piece. Now I was getting
excited as the gun looked like a potential shooter. The last series of shots
were at 100 yards. I was aiming at a bullseye 3" big. I shot all 8 shots
and could not believe my eyes. The entire group was 3 MOA !!! This was with open
sites and me having only fired a Garand once in my life. This is fantastic for
me because I am far from a crack shot. Yes, the shots were fired from a bench.
Interesting thing. I had shot some of this same Greek with my hunting rifle that
is scoped. The group from the Garand with open sites was smaller. I would like
to thank the fine folks at CMP. I am sending my gratitude to the persons who
takes care of the paperwork and those who work on the guns.........and all
others. My Garand is a nice looking, good shooting gun that makes this veteran
grateful. One last thing. I recently bought a PTR 91 (H&K) clone and I still
can't get it to shoot like the Garand did out of the box. Imagine that, the
technology to make the PTR 91 is at least 60 years ahead of the Garand. Both
guns are nearly the same weight, one .308 and the other .30-06............and
the Garand shoots better for me! S. April 18, 2008
I am a new customer with CMP however, I have nothing but good to say about
their service. Everything I have ordered has come in a timely manner and in
the condition advertised. Thanks CMP for the prompt and courteous
service. John G.

SINCERELY, SAM J. April 13, 2008Dear Sirs, My friends received their M-1's recently. I was invited to out to help them zero and sight them in. These guns shoot fantastic and now I am hooked and plan on purchasing one or maybe two at the shoot in North Carolina. I have also registered my 13-year-old son in the shoot. I do have a question with regards to sighting in the M-1. Where can I obtain detailed information on how to sight in these firearms? Thanks for your help. Frank F. P. April 13, 2008For two days now I cannot access the CMP Forum - though I don't have any problem with the rest of the menus on the home page. I start my day by reading what other readers posted particularly at Carbine and Garand Forum, they're my favorite sites. Is it undergoing maintenance ? , what's the problem? Thank you ..... Leo April 13, 2008

Hello, I
just recieved my M-1 Garand today and it was worth the wait, what a beautiful
weapon. I look foward to purchasing an M-1 carbine. Thanks again JR
April 11, 2008Wanted a M-1 Garand for a long time, but never did anything about it. A fellow vet on the job with me told me about CMP. He said they would be old and used, but still shoot. Filled out the paperwork, selected a service grade Springfield, a can of Greek ammo, submitted the order and waited. While I waited, started to check out the website. On the forum saw stories of beat rifles and almost new rifles. The ammo was at my house in a week, but no news on the rifle. The CMP site says 60 to 90 days, so I just waited, hoping I could be one of those guys that gets a break and gets at least a decent rifle. 86 days later, 9:15 in the morning, a knock on the door, the man says sign here, a long brown box? Could this be it? Opening the box I was introduced to the world of M-1's. The rifle is from 4/55 in the 5,85XXXX range. Don't know all the different parts and years, but from reading the forum I have an Springfield stock with the stamps on the left side and the "P" on the grip, the wood is great and all the same color, the metal is a light gray all the way around. The rifle was well oiled but not globbed up and with just a wipe down and a operational check me and one of my sons went out in the woods and set up a target at about 50 yards. Read many a story about how well these rifles shoot, and with get pride decided that my 16 year old son should get the first shot to see if someone with no military training and just basic skills could hit the target out of the box. He fired the first shot and stopped and just stared at the rifle. A big smile on his face did the talking, he then shot the rest of that clip and another 8 shot clip. when we check the target at 50 yards 15 hits on the paper and one just off, on the tree, probably the first round. We shot almost 100 rounds that day and each group got tighter. Will be submitting more paperwork for another rifle and more ammo right away. Thanks for a great rifle that's over 50 years old but looks and shoots like new. Sorry this is so long but I was so excited to tell someone I could not stop writing. MJG. April 11, 2008MR. OREST MICHAELS. SIR, ON APRIL 7, 2008 AT 3:16 PM A CUSTOMER SERVICE PERSON CALLED ME TO VERIFY MY ORDER FOR AN INLAND RACK GRADE CARBINE RECEIVER. I CONFIRMED THAT I WOULD ACCEPT THE SUBSTITUTE FOR MY ORIGINAL UNDERWOOD BARRELED RECEIVER. UPON MY ASKING OF A SHIPPING DATE, THE PERSON REPLIED THAT IT WOULD GO OUT THE NEXT DAY. AS OF THE PRESENT TIME AND DATE, THERE IS NO SHIPPING DATE OR SERIAL NUMBER ATTACHED TO MY ORDER, AS IT IS FORMATTED IN MY ACCOUNT, AT YOUR E-STORE SIGHT. DO YOUR PEOPLE NOT APPRECIATE THE FACT THAT THEY ARE EMPLOYED IN A DEPRESSED ECONOMY, OR ARE YOU THAT SHORT ON PERSONNEL? PS: EXCUSE ALL CAPS - SEVERE CARPAL TUNNEL, I HAVE NO INTENTIONS OF FURTHER CONTACT WITH THE CMP REGARDING THIS ISSUE BECAUSE OF THE SEVERE PAIN IT CAUSES ME AS WELL AS THE DISAPPOINTMENT IN BUSINESS ETHICS. HAL Y. April 10, 2008I just received my 2 Garands SA service grade and SA correct grade. I am very happy with both rifles, the SG is far better than I was expecting. It was definitely worth going through the process of getting my CMP guns. I now have a problem, I don't have an H&R rifle in the safe. So the order will be in the mail tomorrow. Thank you for the hard work CMP, and thank you for championing youth marksmanship programs that hopefully will create the next generation of responsible gun enthusiasts. Chad in West Virginia April 10, 2008Just received my SA Correct M1. Very Happy! I'd like to thank Sandra and Melody for some great customer service. When it looked like I would be out of town when scheduled for shipping they put a hold on it until I was able to receive. Returning home a couple of days early I emailed Sandra and the rifle was immediately shipped. Thanks folks! Happy Customer!!! Mike April 8, 2008
I received my M1-Garand Grade C Receiver today and it's in better condition

future! Sincerely, Ryan

April 8, 2008TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN . I RECEIVED A HRA SERVICE GRADE RIFLE TODAY. I HAVE TO SAY THANK YOU VERY MUCH IT'S ABSOLUTELY GREAT. IT HAS BEEN A REAL PLEASURE DEALING WITH THE CMP A VERY ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE. THANK YOU AGAIN . JOE R April 5, 2008I ordered one of your CMP stocks for my M-1 Garand. Mine was in pretty bad shape with a lot of old battle or warehouse scars. I could not believe how well this new stock fits. It slipped right on with no adjustments at all. My Garand was made in 1945 and this stock fit on it like it was a new gun. Who ever makes your stock for you, My hat is off to them. I have bought other stocks from other companies and nothing was anywhere close to how this went together. I will be back to buy more things even though I am not too fond of your shipper FEDEX. They seem to have a hard time delivering when they say they will. But I have had problem with them several times in the past. Best solution would be to let the customer decide, USPS, UPS, or FEDEX. But I cannot say enough about your product and your fast service. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Jerry S. April 4, 2008I just received my SA M1 Garand and it appears to be in extremely fine shape. I'm looking forward to bringing it to a gunsmith here in Houston to have her thoroughly checked out. I had purchased a couple of Garands many years ago thru what was then "Interarms". Both of those guns ended up being gifts within the family. They were great fun to shoot. I'm just really pleasantly surprised at how good this CMP unit is. The metal looks great and the stock/wood is really nice. The stain color is exactly how I would have ordered if that were possible. I'll be filling out my form for the upcoming Carbine's that ya'll said you would be taking orders for on April 28th. I also want to thank everyone at CMP for there help in ordering this piece of American History. I did call and speak to folks there and everyone was very pleasant and helpful. Jeff L. April 3, 2008I received my service grade Garands today. 1 HRA and 1
SA. Of the many rifles I have been privileged to receive from CMP, these are far
and away the best I have received. The HRA has a new Birch, CMP logo stock/wood
set and I am very impressed! Thanks to you and the whole gang for doing a
wonderful job! GB in Rock Springs, WY. April 3, 2008Dear Mr. Michaels, I made a trip to the North Store today to look for an H&R Correct Grade. They did not have any, so I bought 5 cases of Greek 30-06. I guess I will have to take my chances and order one through the mail. Or should I wait in hopes that there will be some when the Nationals start? Time line for delivery is about the same. The new store configuration appears to make your excellent employees more productive and thus contributes to better service to the customers. The new lighting is most welcome. I would like to commend Mr. George Ball for his most informative and courteous service. Back in the '60s I purchased an M1 Carbine from the DCM. The rear sight covered the receiver where the maker's name was stamped. It had an Underwood barrel, so for the last 40 years I have thought that it was an Underwood. I asked Mr. Ball if there was a way I could check who the maker was without taking the rear sight off. He said that if I gave him the serial number we could look it up. I did, and we did. It is not an Underwood but a Standard Products. Thanks to your staff, I am a happy camper tonight even though I did not get my H&R. Thanks to you and all of the CMP Staff. John G. A. April 3, 2008I received my M1 Carbine today on Order # xxxxx. I am very pleased and offer my word of thanks to all involved in the process. Please pass on my thanks to all involved from opening the envelope to packing the rifle in the box! And for the record I want to say: You Folks Rock! Your customer base loves you folks and the service you provide. Please keep up the good work. Sincerely, Darrell G. April 3, 2008
Received my M1 Garand "A" receiver this AM. Like it just came off
the SA assembly line! Very nice. Will order a carbine receiver as well. Many
thanks from and old armorer. Respectfully, James D .
April 3, 2008Lynne, I wanted to let you know I received my Garand last week, but didn't have a chance to look it over carefully until the other day. Now, I have to lodge a complaint with CMP about my Garand. You see, what I got was not what was described in the CMP web site's classification of a "Correct Grade." I believe what I got was MUCH better than that! A near-pristine bore, a beautiful, matching stock with just a few minor dings, hardly any scratches in the metal, and a nice, tight action. Definitely more than what I expected. I'm delighted, and can't thank you folks enough! It's much appreciated, and I look forward to my next CMP order. Regards, Todd A. April 3, 2008I ordered a Winchester M1 Carbine recently and requested that it be a late production year w/ walnut stock. I just received serial # 5772694 today. What a surprise, the rifle is beautiful!!! The metal and walnut stock is in great shape. It is truly a pretty carbine. It exceeded my expectations. I wish there were more organizations that would provide customer service like you do. Thank you for the great work and for taking time to provide such good service. VR, Terry B. April 3, 2008
Dear Sirs, Ijust wanted to drop you a line to say that everyone really likes
the format of the CMP website. The E-mail news stories about the different
shooting events as well as information on the website itself are a great tool
for keeping abrest of current events and a great help in planning for future
competitions. Every one is excited about seeing the new CMP north store when
we get to Camp Perry this year! We have added a new event to our local CMP
games that we hold in conjunction with the VT. state highpower championships.
This year we are having a Grand Aggragate Match which consists of the combined
score for everyone who fires in all four CMP disciplines
Garand, carbine, vintage and Springfield. The winner will get a trophy
plaque just like the one given to the winner of each individual match but
instead of having the particular discipline on it it says 2008 CMP Grand
Aggragate Match Winner. We are instituting a rotating trophy that will
have the name of each years winner on it. This has been sponsored by a local shooting
club the Northfield Jr, Rifles. This has garnered a lot of intrest in our
match with a marked increase in the number of entrants who will be shooting in
all 4 events. This could be easily added to the CMP games at Camp Perry
in the future and might increase your attendance as well. The only change you
might have to make in the current format would be to hold a couple relays of
the carbine match open so that people firing the team match could shoot their
carbines as soon as the team match concludes. That said thank you again for the
great website and all that you do to promotr our sport sincerely yours Bruce B .

April 3, 2008Hello, Although I’m new to the program, I’m very pleased with your service and your friendly staff. I have two rifles left to me by father. I love the shooting sports and now My wife is getting involved with me thanks to your program. While I already have a carbine from my father, I’m getting another one just for her to shoot. Thanks to all of you for making pieces of our national history available to us. I look forward to many years of doing business with you. Thanks again, Jack & Dina L . April 2, 2008Love my M-1 Garand. Can't wait to get a carbine! Robert C. I . April 2, 2008I just received my "Correct Grade" M1. Right on time and WAY better that I expected. Thanks for the ease of purchase for veterans and for a great experience. As funds accrue, I'll be ordering again. This has to be a red letter day. Allen H.
