Text Box: Dixie Double, Anniston, AL.  The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) invites you to participate in its first annual Anniston Marksmanship Center Dixie Double. This new match offers 60-shot international air rifle standing and 60-shot air pistol events for open men and women and junior men and women.

Text Box: 6th Western CMP Games - The objective of the CMP Games Matches is to encourage participation, to get more people out on ranges for “rifle practice” and competitions. The four days of shooting during the 2009 Western CMP Games at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility north of Phoenix surely fulfilled that objective. The Games saw competitors complete a record 476 event entries in six different CMP Games rifle events.

Text Box: More Camp Perry Improvements - Two Ohio National Guard ceremonies on 13 October, one a Dedication Ceremony and one a Groundbreaking Ceremony, highlighted the most recent endeavors to make additional improvements to Camp Perry, which is the home of the National Matches and CMP North Headquarters. A photovoltaic solar field that is now producing power for the Camp Perry Training Center was dedicated and ground was broken for a new barracks that will provide housing for both National Guard Soldiers and National Matches competitors.

Text Box: USA Shooting is sanctioning this match as a PSA/PSI match sanctions; it is also sanctioned as a PTO. Members of the National Rifle and Pistol Teams will attend. National Rifle Coach David Johnson will present a coaching clinic for all interested persons on Saturday afternoon, 14 November. 2009 - 2010 JROTC Air Rifle Postal Competition.  The 2009-2010 JROTC three-position air rifle competition program starts in October with Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force postal competitions. All JROTC units that offer rifle marksmanship training for their cadets are encouraged to shoot in these popular matches. Indeed, a major objective this year is to increase participation by JROTC units and individual cadets. All firers in the open postal competitions will fire a 3x10 air rifle course of fire. Camp Perry Marksmanship Center Monthly Match, Port Clinton, OH.  The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) invites you and your club rifle team to participate in our Air Gun Monthly Matches. These monthly matches take place at the CMP’s brand new Competition Center in Port Clinton, OH.  The competitions will feature a Junior Air Rifle 3x20, NMAR 3x20, 60 Shots Air Rifle Standing, 60 Shots Air Pistol and 30 shots Novice Prone and Benchrest. 2009 Gary Anderson Invitational, Anniston, AL.  You and your shooters are cordially invited to participate in the 2009 Gary Anderson Invitational, one of the major junior shooting championships in the country. The invitational offers three-position air rifle competition for middle and high school individuals and teams in both precision and sporter class divisions. Both divisions will have awards for competitors who fire the top individual and team scores. There will also be special awards for the best new shooters and junior varsity teams. The winning precision and sporter teams will receive trophy plaques and have their team information engraved on the Gary Anderson Invitational Trophy. The top three sporter and precision teams will also receive cash awards of $500, $300 and $200 respectively. Medals will be awarded to the top 25 open and top 15 new shooters in both the sporter and precision classes. Every shooter and team, regardless of the type of equipment they use or their level of experience, will have an opportunity to compete for awards in a truly high quality competition on one of the finest air gun shooting facilities in the world. 2010 Camp Perry Open, Port Clinton, Ohio.  The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) invites you to participate in the fourth annual Camp Perry Open. This year’s match will include a three-position air rifle competition, an international air rifle (all standing) event, a pistol course of fire, and optional clinics at Camp Perry, Ohio. The Camp Perry (Ohio) CMP Master Instructor Training Course to train and certify As-Issued Military Rifle (GSM/Garand-Springfield-Military Rifle) and Rimfire Sporter Master Instructors to teach rifle clinics at their home ranges and clubs is open for registration.  The course will be conducted on 23-24 January, at Camp Perry, Ohio.  The primary objective of Master Instructor training and certification is to develop qualified instructors to conduct rifle clinics at their local clubs and ranges in order to bring more new shooters into the shooting sports.  These workshops are open to all experienced rifle marksmanship instructors and shooters who want advanced training and certification to teach CMP-sanctioned Garand, Springfield and Vintage Military Rifle or Rimfire Sporter Clinics.  The instructional methods taught in this course are also readily adapted to teaching new juniors to shoot with air rifles or rimfire sporters.  The training covers clinic organization, how to teach safety and range procedures, how to teach fundamental shooting skills and how to conduct As-Issued Military Rifle and Rimfire Sporter Matches.  Every CMP affiliated gun club is encouraged to have at least one club member who has his/her Master Instructor certification.  If you are interested in enhancing your skills as a club rifle instructor or in getting started as a clinic instructor, go to the program at http://www.odcmp.com/Competitions/GSMClinic.htm and submit your application.  For additional information contact Shannon Hand at shand@odcmp.com or 419-635-2141, ext. 1101.

Text Box: New CMP Forum.  The CMP recently launched a new Forum at http://www.thecmp.org/forums.  The New Forum features 18 categories and all users must first register on the new Forum.  If you were a member of the old CMP Forum, you must re-register on the new site.  The CMP’s old forum is locked but can be viewed at http://www.odcmp.org/new_forum.  CMP will keep the old Forum posted for a few months so members can save any information they want.
