Text Box: New York Native, Mark Laramie, wins the 2009 National Trophy President’s Rifle Match - If you follow sports, you've probably heard the reference to a team or an individual who "keeps hanging around." It is a form of respect often given to a dangerous opponent who demonstrates the ability to seize the lead at any moment.

Text Box: That is just what Mark Laramie did to win the prestigious President's Rifle Trophy Match on 3 August. The 41-year-old Oneida County civil engineer from Boonville, New York jumped to the top of the 1,262-shooter pack and earned the top position in the 10-shot prone final used to determine the match winner. And once the 600-yard final began, Laramie did not disappoint the crowd.

Text Box: The President’s Rifle Match Attracts Shooters of All Ages - While most of the attention at the 2009 National Trophy Matches goes to the shooters placing at the top of the ranking lists, every shooter on the line has an interesting story. So I decided to take a closer look at the 1,262 competitors in the Presidents Rifle Trophy Match fired on 3 August at Camp Perry, Ohio. I found Milton Beckwith, 84, of Wethersfield, Connecticut and Allison Otto, 12, of Fredericksburg, Virginia, who just happen to be the oldest and youngest competitors in the event this year.

Text Box: Camp Perry Competitors Invited to Compete in Special National Match Air Rifle Challenge.  All rifle shooters, highpower, smallbore or air rifle, are invited to try to qualify to compete in a special Carl Bernosky Challenge match at the Camp Perry Marksmanship Center air gun range on 8 August.  The Challenge match will take place during the 2009 National Matches, but you do not have to be entered in the National Matches to compete. Competitors in the challenge competition will fire the National Match Air Rifle Standing Course (20 shots) with new Creedmoor-Anschütz NMAR air rifles.  35 of these rifles are now available as loaners at the air gun range.  Qualifying scores can be fired at the air gun center any time between 31 July and 7 August.  Unlimited reentry is permitted and your best score counts.  The top 25 qualifiers will fire against nine-time National Highpower Rifle Champion Carl Bernosky in the challenge match on Saturday, 8 August, with $1000 or more in cash prizes.  To try to qualify, go to the Camp Perry Air Gun Center and ask to enter the Carl Bernosky Challenge Match.  The official program for this match is posted at http://www.odcmp.com/BernoskyChallenge.htm.
