National Matches Update. The busiest week of the National Matches, National Trophy Rifle Match week, has just begun and Camp Perry is alive with activity. The Rifle Small Arms Firing School, attended by 546 new shooters and taught by U. S. Army and military marksmanship unit shooters, ends today. The three-day USMC Junior Highpower Clinic, attended by 129 juniors who were instructed by Marine Corps Rifle Team members, also ends today. Over 1,300 shooters have entered tomorrow’s President’s Rifle Match and are checking in today. The President’s Match will be followed by the National Trophy Individual Rifle Match on Wednesday, the M16 EIC and Whistler Boy Junior Highpower Team Matches on Thursday, the Springfield and National Trophy Team Matches on Friday and the John C. Garand and National Trophy Infantry Team Matches on Saturday. The matches will conclude with a colorful award ceremony on Friday evening and a National Trophy Matches Festival Closing on Saturday. All of Camp Perry from the CMP Store to Commercial Row to the firing lines is full of shooters. The CMP and its staff at Camp Perry looks forward to a great week. Starting tomorrow, you can check daily results for the National Trophy Rifle Matches on the CMP web site at http://clubs.odcmp.com/cgi-bin/ntrifle2005.cgi. Scores will be posted on the CMP web site just as soon as scorecards start coming off the line. The CMP’s First Shot On-line, http://www.odcmp.org, will soon post stories on the Small Arms Firing School, the USMC Junior Clinic and each day’s National Trophy Rifle Matches competitions.
John C. Garand Match Entries Now Available. In the last few days, the CMP was able to open additional firing points on the range used for the popular John C. Garand Match on Saturday, 6 August. This made it possible to move everyone who was on the Garand Match waiting list into the match and open up a small number of additional spaces in the match. If you are interested in firing this year’s Garand Match, but did not submit your entry earlier because it was full, you can still enter the match. Entries must be made on-line through the CMP web site at http://clubs.odcmp.com/cgi-bin/matchRegistration.cgi?matchID=827 and will be accepted until range capacity is again reached. Be sure to provide an email address so we can inform you as to your entry status. |
