Text Box: 2008 Western CMP Games and Creedmoor Cup Matches Ready for Entries - The 2008 Western CMP Games and Creedmoor Cup Matches will take place at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility North of Phoenix, Arizona on 11-19 October. Shooters who want detailed information about the events on the program should examine the match program at http://www.odcmp.com/Competitions/WesternGames.htm. Shooters can now register on-line at http://clubs.odcmp.com/cgi-bin/matchInfo.cgi?matchID=3773. 
 
Beijing Olympic Shooting Reports Posted on CMP Website Daily.  CMP Director Gary Anderson is sending in daily reports from the Olympic Shooting Events in Beijing.  Anderson is serving as the Chairman of the Jury of Appeal for Shooting.  These reports and accompanying photos are posted on the CMP website at http://www.odcmp.com/OlympicShooting.htm.  We encourage you to view the articles and plan to check this site on a daily basis.
 
The Muskegon Pistol & Rifle Club (MPRC) in Holton, Michigan, will hold the first CMP Michigan State Championship John C. Garand Match on Sunday, 17 August.  The course of fire is John C. Garand Course “A” using standard 200 Yd. Target Sports Marketing is conducting an online survey for registered competitive shooters who participated in Camp Perry events this year.  The survey is located at http://NM08Survey
.targetsportsmarketing.com.  The survey will be open till August 16.  All registered competitors completing a survey will be eligible for discounts on selected products and get a chance to win $750.
 
JROTC Marksmanship Instructor Course (JMIC) to be held in Monroe, Michigan on October 11 at Jefferson High School, 5707 Williams Road.  The class will begin at 0800.  This JMIC course is open to any service JROTC Instructor who needs to take the JMIC course to conduct marksmanship training and competitions at their school.  If you are interested in attending, please contact CDR Michael O Connor, JMIC Master Instructor, at 734.289.5699 or email oconnormp@training.navy.mil.
 
JMIC (JROTC Marksmanship) Classes Announced for South Carolina Area.  Master Chief Tim Strickland, JMIC Master Instructor, will be conducting a Marksmanship JMIC class on August 23, 2008  at West Ashley H.S. NJROTC, Charleston, SC.  The class will be conducted in Room 608 starting at 8:00AM till 4:00 PM. Cost is $5.00 for lunch. Amonette, of Radford, Virginia scored the final four points he needed to earn his Distinguished Rifleman Badge in service rifle in the National Trophy Individual Match on Tuesday, 28 July.

Text Box: M1 for Vets compete in National Matches - For wounded military veterans returning from the Global War on Terror in Iraq and Afghanistan, the idea of picking up a rifle again might seem like it would be the furthest thing from their minds.  But John “JJ” O’Shea, founder of M1 for Vets, an organization founded in 2005 to reintroduce wounded vets to highpower rifle shooting, sees the connection between their plight and the rifle range, and says it’s not a stretch.

Text Box: Mathew Amore participates in his First National Matches - His name says it all. “Amore,” the Italian word for “love” captures one junior shooter’s passion for participating in his first appearance at the National Matches and CMP Games.   But his love of the sport requires Mathew Amore, 14, of Howell, New Jersey to overcome the thorny obstacle of being a Type 1 insulin-dependent diabetic, a condition he has had since birth but wasn’t properly diagnosed until he was 14 months old.
