Western CMP Games Still Open for RegistrationCompetitors in the Western United States are invited to shoot in the first-ever CMP Western Games to be held May 14-15 at Camp Pendleton, California.  These Games feature a John C. Garand Match as well as the popular Springfield and Vintage Military Rifle Matches.  If competitors fire on both Saturday and Sunday, they can fire in two of the three matches.  CMP Sales will also be on-hand with a quantity of M1 Garand and M1903 Springfield rifles for shooters interested in purchasing these historic rifles.  Interested persons will be allowed to inspect rifles and reserve them for purchase.  The rifles will then be shipped from Anniston, Alabama upon receipt of the necessary documents and payment.  Persons wishing to inspect rifles for purchase but not compete need to pre-register as a non-firing registrant.  Maybe some day this match will become as big as the National Garand and Springfield Matches at Camp Perry.  This will be your chance to say you fired in the first Western CMP Games.  For complete information about registration, as well as to see the match program, go to http://clubs.odcmp.com/cgi-bin/matchInfo.cgi?matchID=785.

American Jason Parker Ties World Record at ISSF World Cup in Changwon, South Korea.  2004 U.S. Olympian Jason Parker of the Army Marksmanship Unit won a gold medal in Men’s 10-meter air rifle at the ISSF World Cup in Changwon, South Korea earlier this week.  In winning, he also tied the current world record held by Qinan Zhu of China.  This is the third time Parker has held a men’s air rifle world record.  Parker was the world record holder in this event prior to Zhu’s record-setting score in 2005 Olympics in Athens.  Thomas Tamas, also with the Army Marksmanship Unit, earned the silver medal in the Men’s 50-meter prone rifle event, just 1.2 points behind the gold medal winner.  In shotgun, Lance Bade, a resident athlete at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, took the bronze medal in the Men’s Trap event.  The World Cup at Changwon is the first of four 2005 World Cups with others to follow in Bangkok, Thailand; Ft. Benning, Georgia and Munich, Germany.  ISSF World Cups events are part of the Olympic Qualifying system.  For complete results from the World Cup Changwon go to http://www.issf-shooting.org/update/calendar.asp?mode=resultspdf&folder=515&title=ISSF_World_Cup_Changwon_in_all_events_-_Changwon_,_KOR.
