Wins NCAA Rifle Championship |

Western CMP Games. Plans continue to come together for the Western CMP Games, with Garand, Springfield and Vintage Military Rifle Matches that will be organized by the CMP and hosted by the Santa Margarita Gun Club at Camp Pendleton near Oceanside, California. The schedule calls for five relays of firing on Saturday, 14 May, and another five relays on Sunday, 15 May. If you live in the west or southwest and would like to experience a big Garand Match, put those dates on your calendar and watch the CMP web site for the program and on-line entry announcements. 2005 Club Affiliate Renewals. The CMP is currently processing 2005 annual renewals that are coming in daily. 2005 certificates and packets are being prepared and will be sent out by April 15, 2005. If you have any questions please contact the CMP Affiliate Relations Department at clubs@odcmp.com. JMIC Course Available. MAJ Ron Dorsey, Pelion HS JROTC, and MAJ Rancourt, Westside HS JROTC, will host a JMIC (JROTC Marksmanship Instructor Course) at Westside HS in Anderson, SC on April 29 from 9-5. If you are interested in attending, please contact MAJ Dorsey at (803) 894-2129 or MAJ Rancourt at (864) 260-5828. NRA/CMP/USAS-Sanctioned Air Rifle/Smallbore Rifle Coach School. An NRA/CMP/USAS-sanctioned Air Rifle/Smallbore Rifle Coach School will be held 0800, 9-10 April, 2005, at Union High School in Union, SC. Clinic includes: How to run a match, Shooting Opportunities, Fundamentals, Rules, Range Safety, Hands-on position coaching, Equipment, and other subjects. Cost is $90 (made payable to “Paul L Davis”), which includes lunch on Saturday and Sunday, substantial course material handouts and a comprehensive coach’s notebook. For more information, contact Paul Davis at paulldavis@charter.net. 2005 CMP-ORPA M1 Garand Spring Clinic. The annual Ohio Rifle and Pistol Association Spring M1 Clinic that is sanctioned and supported by the CMP will take place at Camp Perry, Ohio on 30 April and 1 May. The clinic attracts 200-300 shooters and is made possible by the work of dozens of experienced highpower competitors who volunteer their time as instructors and coaches. The clinic begins with a shooting clinic on Saturday morning and range firing on Saturday afternoon. A John C. Garand Match will be conducted on Sunday. The official program and on-line entry forms for the 2005 Pistol or Rifle Small Arms Firing Schools at Camp Perry are posted on the CMP web site. The Pistol SAFS will take place on 11-12 July, while the Rifle SAFS will take place on 31 July – 1 August. The schools are taught by the Army Marksmanship Unit, with on-line coaching provided by military National Matches competitors. The pistol school offers safety and basic marksmanship training with M9 service pistols; the rifle school offers training with M16 service rifles. Entry in each school costs just $30 and students receive schools texts, a SAFS T-shirt and ammunition for the school. Pistols and rifles are issued for use by students. Fall Creek Valley Conservation Club Takes a Field Trip…and Brings Home a Few Rifles - When Don Williams of the Fall Creek Valley Conservation Club in Anderson, Indiana visited the CMP Store at Camp Perry, Ohio in September 2004, he knew right away the other members of his club would be interested. Heading home with his rifle, he made plans to bring it up at the next meeting.

CMP in the Lone Star State - The Houston Gun Collector’s Association held the first of their three gun shows this year on January 22-23 at the Reliant Center Complex (formally called the Astrodome Park Complex) in Houston, Texas. The HGCA, organized in 1950, has held three gun shows annually for the past 30 years at the same complex. It is the largest gun show in Texas. The Civilian Marksmanship Program sent several staff members, along with 475 rifles, to Houston for the January gun show. |
