COMPETITIONS

CMP Competition Tracker lists current matches and events, competition results, current distinguished shooters and allows you to register on-line. The CMP promotes the development of popular, RECREATIONAL TARGET RIFLE EVENTS under the banner of "CMP Games."  These include John C. Garand Matches at the national and club levels, a new Springfield/Military Bolt Rifle Match and a new Rimfire Sporter Rifle Match. The CMP's DISTINGUISHED BADGE program recognizes the accomplishments of the nation's best service rifle and pistol shooters and the outstanding achievements of shooters who represent the United States in Olympic, World Championship, World Cup and Continental Championships.

The CMP sanctions and conducts INSTRUCTIONAL CLINICS AND SCHOOLS where new shooters can learn firearm safety, basic target skills and competition procedures.  Clubs and state associations conduct CMP-sanctioned clinics.  Pistol and highpower rifle Small Arms Firing Schools and a National Junior Highpower Service Rifle Clinic are conducted each year during the National Matches. The CMP cooperates with the National Rifle Association to conduct the Annual NATIONAL MATCHES at Camp Perry, Ohio.  The National Matches include that CMP National Trophy Pistol and Rifle Matches and CMP Games events. The CMP is the national governing organization for SERVICE RIFLE AND PISTOL COMPETITIONS that are now popular with military and civilian shooters.  CMP service rifle and pistol programs include the issuance of annual editions of CMP Competition Rules, sanctioning Excellence-in-Competition matches, awarding Distinguished Badges and conducting National Trophy Matches. The CMP cooperates with the National Three-Position Air Rifle Council to support THREE-POSITION AIR RIFLE programs for school-age youth who use sporter and precision class air rifles.
