Army, Marine Corps, Navy and Air Force JROTC rifle teams have an exciting season of competition to look forward to during the 2009-2010 academic year. Rifle team programs start in the fall for most JROTC units, so now is the time to make plans to take advantage of this year’s great competition opportunities.

The 2009-2010 JROTC three-position air rifle competition program starts in October with Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force postal competitions. All JROTC units that offer rifle marksmanship training for their cadets are encouraged to shoot in these popular matches. Indeed, a major objective this year is to increase participation by JROTC units and individual cadets. All firers in the open postal competitions will fire a 3x10 air rifle course of fire.

The postal competitions will be followed by a JROTC Service Air Rifle Championship. All Service Championships will be held at Camp Perry, Ohio.  The Army JROTC Service Championship will be on 18-20 February 2010. The Marine Corps JROTC Service Championship will be on 25-27 February 2010.  The Navy JROTC Service Championship will be on 11-13 February 2010.  The Air Force JROTC Championship will be on 25-27 February 2010. Those championships will not only select the top teams in each JROTC command, but they will also identify the teams that will represent each service in the National JROTC Air Rifle Championship on 25-27 March 2010 (tentatively scheduled to take place at the CMP Marksmanship Center in Anniston, AL). As information comes available we will post it at this location.
